Is any recruiting being done in the Phila area?

Is any recruiting being done in the Phila area?

So much talent this way, Im watching Chester High destroy everyone in its path up to #5 or #7 in the country as one example. Year after year this school is a pipeline and the Phila area churns out enough talent to go round. It seems like the program is trying hard but still strides behind where they should be. Im not flaming at all. I just think its time Penn State hoops can be respectable yearly, not a National Championship squad yearly of course but the one out of every four year cycle of being decent has got to stop. Far too many other programs with lousy facilities, fan bases and what not are doing it, simply put the talent has got to improve. Im in Chambers corner and the talent is in state to improve. Go State!

Brandon Austin seems to be Chambers' #1 target to finish out the 2013 class.

Rivals Four Star Rysheed Jordan (Philadelphia (Pa.) Vaux) lists Penn State as a school of interest.  Rysheed is considered to be one of the most physical guards in the class of 2013 which would suite him well for Big Ten play.

In addition to Penn State, Mr. Jordan lists St.John's, NC State, Villanova, Temple, Pitt$bugh, rutgers, and others as schools of interest.  St. John's and NC State have offered.

Um, yes.
If it's on Twitter, then it must be true.

what is on twitter that must be true - regarding Austin or Jordan?

The info I posted above regarding Mr. jordan is from a recruiting site, not twitter.

Thanks.

It's my sig Paradox. When people went nuts over ******'s inside info with our new football head coach. Nothing to do with this topic.

You are right that we are recruiting Rysheed Jordan. I think Brandon Austin is our #1 target though, and Kris Jenkins is high on the list as well (though Kris is not Philly).

EDIT: LOL - S-E-K-R-A-H shows up as profanity. Hilarious.
If it's on Twitter, then it must be true.

I remember being on one of those teams destroyed by Chester in the District 1 playoffs.  Tough place to play; they have a great home crowd.

Thanks for your input in this thread.

On a positive note I am told that Coach Chamber and his staff are attempting to cultivate the New York metro/ Long Island./ New Jersey-  high school & AAU circuit which is fertile region that Penn State had seemingly abandoned.

I look forward to Chmbers 2013 recruiting class.

Thorpe is already committed and from Pittsburgh. If Austin is the other top target, he's from Philly. That is your 2013 class unless other current players leave.

I grew up in Chester and Ill tell you its a Hoops factory. As a lanky white boy I got to being pretty good and looking pretty tan after years of pickup games with some of the best B-Ballers around.  I was Catholic League and stopped growing but even the lesser known recruits out there from Chester High and area Delco, Phila kids can really bring it. I'm tired of ions of pedestrian basketball from a great great university.  I'm not saying Duke but a top three or four B1G2 program should be attainable with even going in state for talent.

Would those be positive or negative ions?

I think there is a chance that Billy Oliver leaves either this season, or next season, freeing up an extra scholarship.

It seems like Pat has a great relationship with the Team Philly AAU coach. I actually posted an article about their AAU Coach talking about Pat in the Brandon Austin thread. He seems to really dig Pat, and the style Pat wants to implement here. Brandon seems to talk about us as well.

I think we will have two more scholarships to fill (don't think Billy stays for the rest of his eligibility). If we somehow got Brandon Austin, and Kris Jenkins, then we will really be cooking in 13-14.

Provided we all don't die in December 21, 2012, of course.

LOL, Touche. I'd say if they positively flow for the Nits and negatively roll against opponents then they are  ions I want to have on my side..wink

Re: Is any recruiting being done in the Phila area?

Chester always used to whup us in the playoffs (I was 11th man in a ten-man rotation for Central Bucks West and East) -- a slow on defense good three-point shooter before they counted as three. Chester does have great players. Problems sometimes arise with academics. I'm sure Pat is getting guys who have a good chance of succeeding academically at PSU. They can't help if they can't stay eligible.
