Paraclete

Paraclete

I just read about some of the disdain some have about D10 programs, but I really must say I really like Paraclete's (another D10 program) schedule, they have some real powers on that schedule @Serrano (not a traditional power but solid in their division), home against Dorsey, @ Hart, and @Westlake. For a D10 program that's pretty solid, of course they have some not so solid teams like Montebello and Bishop and a team in the middle in Burroughs/Ridgecrest aside from their 2 listed league games, but those first 4 games will be a real test for them

Re: Paraclete

A few years back I mentioned to some of the Paraclete staff that Serrano would be a great yearly pre-season match. Both teams play respectable football. I've also mentioned to Serrano that they should get Palmdale on the pre-season schedule, hope it happens in the future, would be another great pre-season rivalry. All of the schools are in the high desert, would be easy driving.

Hart and Westlake are a different animal, hope they stay healthy through the challenge ......

Re: Paraclete

Serrano has been respectable for a long time, my alma mater beat them for a CIF title the year after I graduated in 2002. Serrano has the second half of a home and home with Quartz Hill this season, while that's not quite Palmdale level it's a good start

You are right Cat. Always worry when a team like that plays up and you see some of the hits being given. Just like I had to worry when Westlake played Agoura, Simi and Royal.

Don't underestimate Paraclete. They hit as hard as any team around the last several years. You'll see. And, sorry but Westlake is not exactly known for being a physical group. Westlake will win the war but not the battle vs. Paraclete.

Great point MitchDogg!! The Agoura posters were the ones with the disdain for D-10 football programs. Going so far as to call out Paraclete for having a weak schedule and that they needed to "step it up".

When the reality is that little D-10 Paraclete has a tougher schedule than Big Bad Agoura and would kick the living sh!t out of Agoura if they were to strap it up! These guys are comical....

Re: Paraclete

Blaze, you are correct. Some of the local posters are naive. A portion of the D10 teams are under-manned and play D10 ball due to the size of the school. Paraclete is not one of them. They are as solid as most of the Marmonte teams with the exception of the heavy transferred rosters of WL and SB. Paraclete is well coached and physical.

Westlake wins this game very easily.

Westlake by 4-5 TD's

Re: Paraclete

Whoa there .........

I place Paraclete in the same company as Bishop Diego and a bit under Nordhoff. A very solid, well coached team but I wouldn't expect miracles against teams like Hart and/or Westlake. I think they get their butts handed to them in the end, but it could be interesting for a half. Both Westlake and Hart make great halftime adjustments. I would expect Hart and Westlake to potentially double the score of Paraclete when the dust settles.

Serrano will be an even matchup  .....

Re: Paraclete

All- I'm not suggesting that Paraclete beats Hart or Westlake. I am suggesting that they are not a D10 Cup Cake that locals are suggesting by way of "I am worried for them"! They are well coached, physical and tackle hard. Don't worry for them! It's like worrying for La Serna the last two years vs. Westlake. Westlake has a ton of talent and will win the game!

It is puzzling why we would  play the Clete which I think filled the schedule. I wonder if this was the possible Bishop Gorman slot that couldn’t come together? Much respect for the Clete they take all comers man oh man!!!

If I recall, and yes I was there, it was 2002 just after Paso Robles had a huge 4 year run in D10 (3-peat) that Paso was rewarded by being  moved up to the big bad Division IV where Paso Robles damn near took it to Westlake in the playoffs. Went down to the final play of the game with Paso trying to stick another one into the end zone from about the 12 yard line. Went incomplete and Westlake won 36-29. Sometimes D10 schools can surprise. wink

Agreed that was one heck of a game and that one heck on a team they belonged there no question. We were not used to that type of play and they were very confident. Lompoc did us in one year as well! How about Righetti in 1997 when they watered down the field. Great games they can play ball BC!!!

Re: Paraclete

I think you mean 'punch you in the mouth' style of football and a slow but huge/strong RB that liked to abuse LB's cool

We weren't ready for the speed, Your QB was a mover, slippery sucker  .....

An you had the Stuart brothers if I recall.

The QB being slippery giving him time to toss the rock to the big Stuart at TE was the game changer ........

Get rid of any one of the 3 and we probably would of pulled that one out.

Re: Paraclete

Correct and  your QB Patterson or Peterson put the team on his shoulders... he was one heck of a player. What ever happen to him he was a gamer...I left the field a fan of him. I Agree that game lioters in my memory as well. I also remember Brad Lee Van Pelt (1998) rolling for 7 yards a carry and nobody could stop him he was an incredible player and did a few things up at Colorado State!!
