Darrell Scott quits Colorado for "personal reasons"

From Los Angeles Daily News:

http://www.insidesocal.com/prepsports/

Darrell Scott, who played two seasons at Moorpark and was once considered the nation's No. 1 tailback, is on the run again.

The sophomore has quit Colorado's football team, with plans to transfer to UCLA, according to a story in the Denver Post.

Scott did the same thing in high school, leaving Moorpark after rushing for more than 3,000 yards as a junior to play his final season at Northern Division rival St. Bonaventure of Ventura.

I heard he had knee surgery a few weeks ago. Not surprising given the rumors popping up around then about him going to SC. At least he picked a semi-descent destination.

this is an interesting question - who is more likely to start between malcolm jones and scott at ucla?  or even be higher on the depth chart for that matter...

Colorado was never a good fit for him. He should of went to Texas when they offered. Much better offense for his style of running. I don't mind him going to UCLA though. Maybe Malcolm will have second thoughts now.

Yup. Colorado was a god-awful pick from the very beginning, and I remember telling people that it wouldn't work from the start. Hopefully things work out for him. At the worst he'll finish with a degree.

so does he sit a year AND lose a year of eligibility?

I'm still curious to know what everyone thinks about who is a better back between jones and scott...

Most colleges don't get through the year with one back. This would be a GREAT tandum. Although if my recent  knowledge of him and current  contacts about him, have it right, Scott doesn't have the brains of an icecube. And what he does have are meltingggggg. He'll most likely never play at UCLA.

that wasn't a very cool comment about DS. If you don't know him personaly you don't have the right to make a comment about his intelligence. Listening to other peoples comments doesn't make it true. He is a bright guy, just made a bad choice in college choices. He will excell at Ucla and show people the type of player he really is.

I agree - that is pretty classless.  Calling a kid stupid that you don't even know definitely violates some boundaries of common decency.

Actually do know him personally, son played with him when he was younger. Your right low blow on part. Let's just see where he ends up. UCLA just may not be the place for him. Maybe more of a Fresno State kinda guy. If nothing else he can use a "change of residence" - "transfer" and play in Europe. Oh, that's right that league doesn't exist anymore.

Love to see the fans from SB come to young Mr. Scotts backside seeing how you must know him so well. Obviously watching him grow up in your program though pee-wee, youth, freshman football and all those first years on Varsity have forever burned a place in your heart for Darrell.
