There comes a time when a good program .........

There comes a time when a good program .........

There comes a time when a good program wants to become a 'great' program. We have heard over the last 3 years how much talent Chaminade has, dang, from nade's posters you would say they have the 'best' talent of any school in Southern California.

So with all that talent why haven't they won the big cigar? I think the answer has been stated several time over the years. Chaminade is one-dimensional. Which means the reason why they haven't won the big cigar is coaching.

Maybe it's time for Chaminade to dump their good coach for a great coach rolleyes

Croson is a great coach and Chaminade has loads of talent, I dont know what talent other schools have , so I go by results and last year Chaminade was the last team playing and lost a closer game (2 points) on the road, to a higher state ranked team (Serra #5)than any of the other local schools did in their final game.

ND lost by 7 to SJB, #9 Alemany by 11 to MD #10, SB by 21 to Mater Dei #10, Oaks lost by 1 to ND #19, Hart lost by 21 to PV #34, Valencia lost by 17 to PV #34.

If you want to talk about the past and Championships, I guess we can.......

In 2009 Croson took over a Chaminade program that had only won 2 games (on the field) in ’08. In the three years since his return the eagles played in the quarterfinals in ’09 (7-5-0) and the semifinals in ’10 (11-3-0) and ’11 (10-3-0) and the finals in 2012 (12-2-0). The eagles have been ranked in the top 10 by the Daily News and the C.I.F. every week since September of ’09.  In 2000, Croson inherited a Birmingham program that was a combined 3-17 from 1998-99 and had not captured its league title since 1969. Croson proceeded to lead the school to league championships in 2000, '01, '03, '06 and '07. The Patriots earned Los Angeles City titles in 2002, '04, '06 and '07, finishing the 2007 season in the USA Today Top 20 national rankings and ranked #1 in Southern California by the L.A. Times. In the back to back City Championship years (’06 & ’07) coaches’ team outscored their playoff opponents by combined score of 336 – 39. Coach was inducted into the Birmingham H.S. Hall of Fame this past spring. Croson and his staff have been selected high school Coach of the Year by the L.A. Times (2000), Daily News (’02,’04), L.A. City Section (’01, ’04, ’06, ’07) and the Valley Youth Conference (’03). In 2007 they won the Schutt Sports U.S.A high school coach of the year for the western region. Croson has been Head Coach for the East vs West H.S. all-stars (’96, ’01, ’08) and assistant coach for the California vs Florida all stars (’04). He spent the summer of ’09 in Canton, Ohio coaching team U.S.A. to the gold medal in the I.F.A.F. (19 & under) Jr World Championship.......

Croson has won more championships(2002, 2004, 2006, 2007) than any of these coaches over the past 10 years and has a more recent championship than all but Therrian.

Maybe all these teams should get rid of their coaches?
When was the last time that these guys won the "Big Cigar"?

Herrington Alemany-- Never as a HS head coach that I know of
Therrian SB--2008 and 2007
Rooney ND--2002, 2003 and 2004 (currently has three straight losses to Croson teams)
Herrington Hart--2003
Muir Valencia---never (currently 2 stright losses to Croson teams)
Lins MP--2006

But this is all in the past......2013 will be a new year and a new teams.

Your lack of knowledge about HS football is becoming very apparent Beercat.

HA HA HA HA

As usual you don't get it. You can't toss in MP, Valencia Hart nor Birmingham as they are public schools that don't have the blessings of recruitment like privates.

So that leaves the privates.

Locally how many private schools have won big boy divisional championships in the last 5 years or since Croson came to Nade?

Bonnie - Yes
Oaks - Yes
ND - No
Crespi - No
Alemany - No
Nade - No

What do the 2 schools that have a yes have in common? Both have/had coaches who most agree on this forum are 'great'. The others have coaches that have received question marks over the last 5 years on this very forum though I think Mack will deliver.

Redell - great
Therrien - great

What do they both have in common? Great game plans and the ability to make great half time adjustments.

Need I say more

Re: There comes a time when a good program .........

I kept waiting for the adjustments when I saw the MD game last year. noidea
Therrian is a good coach but he inherited a top notch program that is the only private in town.

You kill me with your mindless dribble Beercat.

If a coach coaches  at a public or private it doesnt matter to me.

If you do question all these other coaches like Herrington, Rooney, Mack, why single out Croson?

I can tell you that Crosons PUBLIC school teams have been ranked  higher than  SB as an example 3 times over the last 8 years on calpreps. Three times in 4 years while at Birmingham his teams had a higher PR than Bonnie. Yes his public school teams were ranked higher than Bonnie in 2007, 2006, 2004. Go figure

You are in love with Nade beercat and I dont blame you.biggrin

Why would anyone want to talk about Bonnie right now?

Keep up the posts that shine the bright light on Nade. There is a lot more you can post about if you just use google.

All That experience at coaching for Corson and he still doesn't know when to kick a field goal. He was so desperate that he had to resort to showing a ref a replay on his iPhone. Classic !!!!

All that great coaching and Therrian would have needed 3 TD's and a FG to win that game. MD could have spotted him 20 points. Basically SB had no shot at winning that game. Embarassing and sad . Very poor representation of the teams up North by what is supposedly a great coach.
At least Croson and Nade were in the game against a better team than Mater Dei.

Nade your comments about how good your team is and the over abundance of talent they have ,has still not produced any hardware. So in my opinion they need to put their purse down and start backing up all this greatness. Just please win a championship then people will take you seriously . Until then your remarks are getting old.

Nadefan,  unless your team won a championship 5 years ago like Bonnie you cannot post on this forum about your team, nobody will take you seriously.  Apparently, It's the law.eek1

OR you can go the BeerScat route and just post useless nonsense straight from your ass.

Fact is Chaminade will always be a second level program until they move up with the big boys. Their big chance was the OC game and they failed. SB played 6 teams with CA state rankings going 4-2. Chaminade played 2 and went 0-2. On a positive note you did beat Pacifica and Morro Bay in the playoffs. disbelief

RE: There comes a time when a good program .........

I agree they will be looked at as a 2nd level team till they get moved up, but they do have some great athletes and a good program brewing over there. And I don't see how the OC game was their "big chance". They played ND and spanked them pretty good and then ND goes out and beats OC in the playoffs??? Why is OC the standard for playing with the "big boys"?

How does a second level team end up ranked #1 by the Daily News and #12 in the state by Calhisports?

This shows your lack of HS football knowledge again Chump.

Chaminade played 4 games vs Calhisports teams ranked in the top 22.

Chaminade went 2-2.

How does it feel to sit through an entire game and not see your team score?

I cant even imagine what its like to go through a single quarter.

Mater Dei beat Edison by 7 points Serra beat Edison by 17, Serra beat Poly 20-12, Poly beat Mater Dei 35-17, Mater Dei shut out SB 21-0.

Serra is clearly a better team than Mater Dei who shut out Bonnie.

Serra and Nade played even over 2 games with Nade having a 56-50 scoring edge.

Serra at #5 in the state and state D2 champion is a true measuring stick and Nade played as well against Serra not once but twice. As well or better than any other team on their schedule. Including Narbonne, Poly, ND, and Edison

Re: There comes a time when a good program .........

Croson is a good coach but not a great one. If he was great Chaminade wouldn't have fired him the first time he was the head coach and went below .500  While his teams in the City were good those Championships are not that meaningful because the quality of competition was poor.
What was changed for Croson is that Chaminade is in the scholarship game in a big way. President Jim Adams has decided to let each team have a number of scholarships.
Croson will get his chance to show he is a great coach when Chaminade gets put into the PAC 5 during the re-leagueing. Although like Reddell, I have heard he may retire when Chaminade gets moved up. If Croson cant win a title in '13 it will never happen as the Pac 5 is too tough. Every playoff game is tougher than the Western Division Championship games that Croson loses now. Chaminade will have a tough time making the playoffs after next year as the league they get put into will be a little tougher than Harvard and Cathedral.

De La Salle beat Corona Centennial 48-28. SB was leading CC 40-21, and driving to make it 47-21, when SB fumbled. Had they not fumbled they win 47-21 over CC.blah2blah2blah2blah2blah2blah2blah2blah2blah2blah2blah2blah2blah2blah2blah2. If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.
