Oaks Christian is moving toward what this guy preaches, good for them

He is a very intelligent man, if you havent seen the movie "Gifted Hands" yet, its a good one and I highly recommend it.

That being said, allthough he is a great speaker, his ideas are very basic and vague, I would like to hear him outline his plans rather than just give a speech with some bullet points. The one thing that we should take away from this is that without his mother he wouldnt be where he is today, no way. Thats the big message.

Because Oaks is going to stress more balance in extra/after school activities. Though they have done way better than most I think we see a pattern where they are going to proceed even more toward 'balance'.

The doctor in his speech wants more reconition for 'smart' kids. To place tham in an area of honor siimilar to the ways most schools place big time athletes.

Oaks is experiencing the same thing that happened at Bonnie in 2008. The school begins to become a football program that also has academics, instead of an academic institution that offers football. The financial aid got out of control, there were top players paying full tuition and bench warmers getting huge aid packages. You could hear the voices in the bleachers and it wasn't good. I knew this day would come at Oaks, it was inevitable. Anything but a championship was a failed season. The administration is changing course and it will affect the Oaks football team. They will always be a winning program, but no longer will they be able to pick and choose the players they need to fill certain positions.

You guys kill me. Just last year it was all about the win and a championship at Bonnie. Otherwise it was a failure. Straight from goose mouth for sure and prob yours Sfactor.

At Nade it sports have always been about doing the best you can. Win or lose.

What you need to do is admit good students first and foremost, only recruit good students, Don't even bother with the Darryl Scott's, etc. many of Nades top students are also top athletes. There is no reason why you can't have a student who excels at both.

Also Beerscat saying a coach should be replaced because he hasn't won the "big cigar" and you Sfactor constantly saying its nothing if its not a championship is very hypocritical don't you think?

If Bob Ladouceur had been head coach at Nade the last few years you think just maybe the Eagles would of won a Divisional championship?

For someone who claims to "get it" you sure say some dumb sh it.

Now our football players are dumb? I don't know anyone else's GPA but my own son who is a starter and had a 3.9 GPA on his last report card. Based on this post you know every player on Nade's roster GPA and all of them are getting a 3.0 or above? No exceptions?

It easy to say when your school is located in a metropolis like the SFV. Not to mention its quite an affluent area. Ever saw where some of these Bonnie kids live in South Oxnard?

I have no idea what the GPA's are of the Nade football players and I dont care. I do know that they wont even entertain recruiting any student that cant cut it in the classroom first and there is no animosity among any parents as to who and why certain kids may be getting financial aid. Chaminade is academics first, is always presented that way to any potential student and thats all I need to know.

Your spokesman Sfactor is the one saying Bonnie had a problem letting anyone in for football with financial aid before academics. People talked and were upset. They even gave bench warmers financial aid , can you believe that, OMG!! He called it a problem and says they have changed. I dont see any problem giving a kid who meets your schools qualifications for acceptance financial aid, bench warmer , superstar, genius whatever. Thats what its for if they need it.

Oaks always seemed like a well rounded school to me, more academic than most privates. I dont get what this supposed big change at Oaks is all about.

When did I ever imply Nade kids were smarter than Bonnie kids?
I dont know or care how smart they are.
I know for a fact Nade never has and never will let kids in just because they can play football like your boy Sfactor says Bonnie has done in the past. Thats all Im saying.

Actually that last post was not supposed to be sent. I decided I really didn't want to put that out there because I'm really not interested in pushing people's buttons just setting the record straight about SB. I felt that post was a major button pusher and elected not to post it but I must have hit post instead of cancel on accident and Nadefan clearly saw it before I caught it. In an earlier post I was cool with the answer he gave. That post is still up there. To clarify, I wanted to know why he thought SB presently did not recruit good student athletes. Emphasis on student. Apparently I need to be more careful when doing this on my phone

Grammar is important, but let's be honest, generally when people go to the grammar attacks, it's largely because they have little if nothing else to bring to the table in a debate or argument.

And that's assuming the grammar is at least serviceable, because obviously horrid grammar and the person that used it should be made fun of for it. Which it is. But that's besides the point...
