RE: WL QB Hong
lmao i think every single kid that has played westlake football is "Great kid, with great parents and a respectable young man" according to winning. not trying to offend winning but i feel i see those same statements about every kid.

RE: WL QB Hong
winning gives the kid a ride in his golf cart thanks him for his service to Westlake High. Waits five minutes, gets a radio call from coach B. "Winning we have another transfer in the parking lot, please pick him and his parents up, give them tour, don't forget the hall of fame and give them the promised land speech" Yes sir coach B, have I ever told you are the best!

Yea, Simi sucks. Now, why did the Dongster transfer out of such a fine program as the Lake? Wondering cause you seem to be leaking QB's all over the place the last couple of years.

Re: WL QB Hong
You guys crack me up. Simi, that was some funny stuff. Danny left on Wednesday. Of course, fortunately for me, I got the chance to say good-bye and wish him luck. As with most football players be they from Westlake, Moorpark, Oaks Christian, St. Bonnie, T.O., Royal or any other High School, Danny is a good kid. Most young men who make the sacrifice and devote their time and energy to football, are usually good people. They are among my favorite students.

Thanks SimiOL. Rooting and cheering for these young athletes is a lot of fun for me.

Re: WL QB Hong
I saw this kid at a camp in Vegas over the weekend. I was not impressed. I hope Bishop Gorman has another QB. He had no zip or accuracy on the ball and his deep balls floated. I understand now why he couldn't take over at Westlake. Nice kid though.

Re: WL QB Hong
Talent is a strange thing. Not everyone has the talent to be a successful athlete. I was below average in sports but unfortunately never had anyone teach me or train me. Not that I would have been a good one but without training etc. your chances of succeeding are slim.
Always sad to see talent wasted. Even sadder is seeing how some players are built up as the next big thing, but unfortunately it never happens. Parents sometimes find it hard to be objective in evaluating their sons. Those of us who follow sports can usually tell whether a player has talent or not.
Has to be hard on a kid to think he has skills and talent when he finds out it is just not there. Best of luck to all those who try.

The above statement could not have been more well written. It's not intended as a knock on the person who posted because I do not know him.
My point is that if parents would take the time to get their kid(s) some REAL training to supplement their talent/ability there is the possibility that the child will fulfill their potential. The days of athletic ability alone being good enough are over. Good supplemental training and teaching are paramount to success at the high school level.
Disclaimer.....I am not a coach or trainer attempting to solicit business. I am just a parent.

Re: WL QB Hong
Point well taken my friend.
Back in my day things were quiet different than they are today. The competition nowadays is so keen and you are right about supplemental training. I see kids being trained but once again if there is no ability there they may improve but tough to be an outstanding athlete without God given talent.
There is also the mental aspect of training. I think that is some place that is fascinating. Around school I love to give the players mental advice, support etc. and love it when they listen.
