Chaminade Reloads

Chaminade Reloads

The Mission League football competition between Gardena Serra and West Hills Chaminade keeps getting more intriguing every month.

The two schools battled it out last season, with Chaminade prevailing, 28-20, in a close league game, then Serra beat the Eagles, 30-28, in the Western Division championship game. Nothing should change in 2013 as far as one or the other competing for a championship.

So in the off season, it's all about adding new players, and Chaminade has added three transfer students.

Brandyn Lee, a sophomore receiver who caught 30 passes at Chatsworth Sierra Canyon, has enrolled at Chaminade, along with junior running back-cornerback Kieran Yancy, who played at Sierra Canyon. The Eagles also added junior defensive end Garrett Scarpace from Hueneme. He's 6 feet 3, 200 pounds, and his father is Mike Scarpace, who played on USC's 1967 national championship team and has coached in high school and college.

Daily News reports Brandyn Lee is headed to the Nade too.

Would be really interesting to see who got hired as a coach on Croson's staff or has the infamous Coach House lost his charm in the SFV.

No charm lost. Both kids (and their respective parents) were not happy about the amount of touches they got on offense. I don't know if its going to be any better in Ed's 2 tight ground and pound (power pitch) offense as 1 is a WR and the other a Slot.

I wish them both the best of luck as both are great kids with great families. Kids come and kids go...

Ed doesn't need to run pitch power as much as he does with the quarterbacks and athletes he has. Lee and Yancy coupled with the Lee brothers (and the talented underclassmen) would favor a more wide-open attack. I see Yancy helping more in the secondary honestly.

Ed's had big time athletes and been loaded with speed over the last 3 seasons. He is who he is and will always fall back on the run game. Just like Herrington (Alemany) will never be a running coach...

I see Yancy helping more on D too but he wants touches on O.

I see Ed using them as receivers/slots primarily. Unless one of them is as fast as JT Hill, I see Lee and Hill as the one two punch. As previously said, Chaminade CIF CHAMPS 2013. Hey ED don't be so mean!! LOL

Does Yancy play much D ?

I see lee and Hill as the backs also. Power pitch is a great weapon and Croson will always use it.

Yancy isnt very tall and the competition will be much better than what he saw in the Alpha league ( probably why they transfered?). Im not sure he will be playing much corner.

I see him as a Crespi little mike type of guy on offense and a kick returner primarily.

The other kid will fight for a reciever spot with some good young recievers.

I agree. A little over dramatic. I don't think it's going to hurt as much as some may think. Both are great kids but they have already been replaced... life goes on. Like I said Kids come and kids go... Best of luck to all!

Re: Sierra Canyon’s Yancy transfers to Chaminade

Yancy is a good LITTLE athlete with a great family.. I wish the Youngman good luck. As far as offense goes at the NAD, it will not happen.. Defensively he can't and will not start at that level. Yancy will contribute with special teams without a doubt.

Coach E-House is a GREAT coach he will Re-load.

It is sad how a program can go 11-2 and kids want to transfer because of touches. I think a lot of kids and coaches think the grass is greener on the other side, we will soon find out! Only time will tell, not speculation.

Re: Chaminade Reloads

Someone needs to tell Sondheimer that "all about adding new players" is supposed to mean from your own JV and/or Frosh teams not from someone else's team!
