Top Area QB's 2013, Lets Hear It
Chaminade's Brad Kaaya should have an excellent season next year.
He will have multiple quality WR's (Tessar, Dymond Lee, Rutherford) 2 big TE's (Bounds 6'4 250, Loth 6'5 215) and 2 of the best backs(Lee, Hill) in Socal to throw to.
Dawkins, White, and Towne will be top returners with good returning supporting casts.
Thought I heard Alemany and Crespi both had some very good guys stepping in.
ND appears to be in need of a QB

Re: Top Area QB's 2013, Lets Hear It
I've heard Crespi has some possibility if they develop well - sounds a bit like wishful thinking.
Kaaya most likely would have been Crespi's starting QB this past year, and I really wonder if that would have given the Celts the league victory they needed. It hurt losing him. Looks like Crespi could use him next year as well. Wish he would have stayed.
I think Alemany has a really good replacement for Dunn. Great athlete, got a lot of playing time outside QB last year. He was a very fast and athletic db, if I'm not mistaken.
I'm interested about ND's Hilinski deal. Someone commented they wanted to leave due to the coach, which doesn't add up to me. If they are going to Upland that would be a move downward on academics as well, right? I'd understood academics was a big deal for that family, so that adds to my confusion. The younger Hilinski (a junior next year, I believe) was touted as being a much better athlete than Kelly.
It seemed like teams figured out Towne from Bonnie's as the year progressed. I saw him play Centennial, then Mater Dei, and it wasn't like the same guy. It will be interesting to see how he develops. His Centennial performance was astonishing by any standard, and it was his first start as a sophomore.

Re: Top Area QB's 2013, Lets Hear It
Town had 3 pretty bad to average games (Mater Dei, REV, and Westlake). In all 3, I thought the teams did a great job of not blitzing and forcing Town to throw into coverage. I don't really think it's a "teams figuring out someone" so much as teams coming up with a great scheme and executing at a high level, and SB doing a pretty hilariously bad job of adjusting. Seriously; review those 3 games and the perplexing play-calling.
Luckily for Town he returns basically all of his receivers, including one of the top TE recruits in the country. If they can get anything out of the TB position, with probably a more RB by committee approach, they're going to be really good on offense this year. Oh, and being only a Sophomore this year is kind of the key thing... Easily one of the better QB prospects in the Southland, and the best local prospect.
But like the others mentioned, Dawkins and Kaaya are two of the better local QB's and should have big years, especially Dawkins.

It will be interesting to see how SB's offensive line looks next year as they are graduating almost their entire starting lineup.
Also, I wonder how oaks will look next year? Obviously I am aware of Dawkins and I know they had a lot of underclassmen starters. Cannot see them having 2 down years in a row...

It's not the academics. He's a smart kid. They weren't happy with the way his older brother was treated and didn't want the younger bro going threw the same stuff.

Whoever earns the starting QB spot at Valencia (either Sr Wallace or Soph Parkinson) will put up some of the best number in the area. Tons of talent surrounding them in '13!
Should be exciting to see how it unfolds...

If consistently winning football games, getting a top-notch education, coached to be fundamentally sound on the field, and becoming a fine, responsible young man is not the direction you want your son to go than Notre Dame is the wrong place for you apparently. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Coach Rooney and his staff. If there was, they'd all be gone a VERY LONG time ago. After all, how long has he and his staff been at NDHS? 25+ years? Highly doubt Coach Rooney's philosophy and morals have "all-of-a-sudden" changed after all these years.

I think ND's O is designed for a more athletic QB that can threaten the D by running. Both brothers are good and in the right system, could be really good. I hope they do what they have to do and not burn down the house on their way out. Also, the family is from upland. They made huge sacrifices to go to ND, thinking things would have worked out differently.

If the Nade QB felt he had a shot a being the starting QB for Crespi last year, he would have never left. The Blue Turf is cool, but not that cool. 1ventura wrote: I've heard Crespi has some possibility if they develop well - sounds a bit like wishful thinking.

Re: Top Area QB's 2013, Lets Hear It
The Nade QB knew he should be the starter at Crespi but felt he did not have a shot because of the BS politics at Crespi(coach Mack). I think we can all agree that transferring to Nade was the best move he could have made. NADE = CIF Finals, Crespi = no playoffs. and the blue turf is awesome! I understand academics played a role in his thinking. He is a 3.9 student and is being romanced by Stanford. Also, I agree that Nade will be even better next year. But just wondering who will fill those pass rushing skills of Cory Harris. He was a difference maker on defense for four years. He ran to save his life, not because it was part of the scheme. Tyler is more athletic, smarter and far more accurate. He will be better than Kelly in the long run.

Re: Top Area QB's 2013, Lets Hear It
Dont quite understand your comparison between Nade and Crespi. To completely different strengths between the 2 leagues. Im not sure that Nade would've made the playoffs in the Serra league this year. Crespi on the other hand would've definitely been in the finals against SERRA. Not sure they would've beat them either. I do think Nade belongs in the Pac-5 though. I would love to see a league featuring: Bonnie, Oaks Christian, Nade, Crespi, ND and possibly Alemany. That would be my dream league. I would also prefer Westlake instead of Alemany. The Bonnie, OC and Westlake rivalry is as good as it gets. --------------------------------------------- --- Nadeeagle1 wrote: The Nade QB knew he should be the starter at Crespi but felt he did not have a shot because of the BS politics at Crespi(coach Mack). LOL. Alemany lost to a PAC 5 finalist, the IE winner, and to a rival by 2 with a boatload of injuries. All of these teams would have beat you by 4 TDS.
You can speculate all you want, but we already know what happens when ED grows some balls and plays Dean.
An ass whooping on your Gay Blue Turf's opening night, on Fox Sports West. So far, as long as the new staff has been here, we have OWNED shinemynads. And we will continue to do so.
Play us EDDY. PLAY US EDDY. PLAY US EDDY.
Don't worry, your will soon be exposed as the pretenders you are.
Or maybe you can stay down and join up w Paraclete and Sierra Canyon and , La Sally at least they want to move up.

You're right Nadefan we all our opinions, but playing in a league like the Serra league is mentally and physically punishing EVERY week. Not sure the Mission can compare nor does Newby make it through the season unscathed. Playing Cathedral, HW, St. Paul and St. Francis is not quite the same as playing Bishop Amat, Loyola, ND, Alemany and Crespi. Even you have to agree with that.

The first year Herrington was at Alemany he got his azz kicked by coach Mcenroe, the next year against a first year pop warner coach at Nade he needed a 2 point conversion with a min left to win at home. Herrington is good but he has underacheived over the last few years with all the free tuition kids he is bringing in IMO. Nade would give Herrington and Alemany all they can handle.

I've seen the athletes at Alemany, crazy talent. The problem is the PAC 5 is brutal. Usually the deepest and healthiest team is in the finals. Herrington gets some of the best players in the valley, usually the free tuition does it. I know at Bonnie and Nade they dont give freebies.
