Serra at Edison

Serra at Edison

Any thoughts on this one.

Edison only lost one game by 6 points to Mater Dei so they must be a decent team.

From what I have seen Edison looks to have good size but they are slow.

I  know Serra is a damn good team with speed on top of speed.

I have to go with Serra by 2-3 scores even though the game is in OC.

Re: Serra at Edison

Just watched a few clips of Edison and they swarm to the ball really fast. Big boys on the line put a lot of pressure on the qb as well.

What did 'Beerscat' say about Serra ......

"When I watched the Serra v Nade game I kept thinking what if Serra were disciplined. If they were they could play and beat most good Pac-5 teams as they sure have the athletes. I would encourage Serra to go that direction as that is the only thing I see that would hold them back from being a Pac-5 power house."

Regarding the Mission I've always said they are to good of a league to be matched with the other leagues now in the Western.

Don't try and say I said something else in my serious discussions. I believe my observation is spot on and I would think anyone from the outside (not a fan of the Mission) would support my conclusions, wink

Beercat is taking the high road for now on. The feud with Nade fans is over. Sure I'll put up an occasional photoshop but overall I'm going to stay positive and find good things to comment on which I may add is shown in my comments above. They are truthful, none judgmental and are there to encourage.

Peace

IF?

That red part is so spot on.eek1

Didnt Serra beat the Pac5 champ, and ND a Pac5 quarter finalist?

Did a Pac5 team beat Serra?

Looked like your average amount of penalties to me. What was the count if you know, or can you give some specifics.

Also you saw the Lompoc game so what happened in that one, was serra getting an inordinant amount of penalties?

I watched Edison and Villa park and Edison got 3, 15 yard penalties within one quarter if I remember right.

Re: There are no UNDISCIPLINED teams still playing ...

I have seen Nade and Serra play 4 times in the last 3 years and haven't noticed what a few others see as undisciplined play.

I'll have to start watching more closely. I guess you only remember the penalties or missed assignments that come against and hurt your team. I remember a few of those that were huge. The main one , touching the ball before it went 10 yards on that onside kick (sarcasmconfused). It's bonehead crap like that , that can have a huge impact.

RE: Serra at Edison

people like to characterize darker teams as "undisciplined"
im wondering how good they would be with a better passer!
if they had a better gun behind center with all those athletes they would be unstoppable.

Exactly .....

Imagine a Johnny Stanton or a Troy Williams at Serra eek1

Those national top 10 teams from florida are "darker" teams ...

What if they were disciplined ?

OMG they could beat some college teams eek1

I was just asking what you see beercat.

Greene has thrown for like 2500 yards and 22 Tds haven't he ?
Meanwhile they average 8 ypc as a team. Not every team is built around the pass.
He threw for over 300 yds against narbonne
I guess some people have certain perceptions about black qbs also

Was Stanton a great passer? Because Greene is a hell of a runner and much faster than Stanton from what I saw

RE: Serra at Edison

How many penalties did Serra have in the first half? Oh yeah  ....... 9

You can't do that and win in a state bowl.

Serra is a really good team but just think what might have been if they played penalty free football in that first half which of course is my point.

Not hear to argue the point. If you want to believe Serra plays disciplined football then go right ahead.

End of my discussion on this topic.

RE: Serra at Edison

if they had troy williams then they would be THE BEST TEAM IN THE STATE.
i dont care what you say. the run can only give you so much space and obviously they have the speed to average 8ypc
if they had a more refined passer that had wheels it would be VERY scary with the athletes at every position
tell me im wrong assclown?

Good enough of a passer to get a full ride rolleyes

I did say a Stanton or a Troy Williams so im colored blind .....

I don't buy the predominately black teams are all undisciplined crap ....

What was hartsc's comment before the LBP/MD game ...

"Can LBP play a disciplined game and not commit penalties like Serra did last night ?"

Wow ....

It ain't where you from it's where you at ...

Total 345yds

2011

I want to enter the Serra qb debate because I have a rooting interest but also do not want to enter for the same reason. I will tell you this about Jalen, he entered the Serra program in the 9th grade and was a receiver and decided he wanted to play qb on the freshman team. He's only been playing qb for 3 yrs., now and has made some good strides. Yes, he has to put in some work to become what is considered an elite qb. With that being considered, I think he has more than held his own against all of the So. Cal elite qb's he's gone head to head against. He did well against ND(Helinski), Narbonne(Williams), Cathedral(Rettig), St. Francis(Lebowitz), and Harvard-Westlake(Kanoff). Every qb on that list is going to a DI school and during the final three games listed, Jalen didn't even play in the 2nd half. His numbers would be off the charts if he threw the ball 50-60 times per game like some of the above qb's.
