PYFL Calabsas Raiders kicked out of league
You got to be kidding me.......I read this in the local Acorn paper today. "After a 46-0 win by Calabasas over Agoura, Calbasas received news that they were banned from competition as the playoffs got underway". They were banned for overly aggressive play-including the delivery of "cheap shots". I feel bad for the Calabasas kids.... What is happening with the Agoura parents these days..........

Re: PYFL Calabsas Raiders kicked out of league
My understanding is there were several incidents throughout the season for unsportsmanlike conduct. The PYFL issued numerous warnings to the team (Calabasas president & coaches). Apparently there are bylaws that exclude you from playoff participation if you fail to represent your chapter in a positive manner. I heard that team was very good but their actions caused them to be left out. Heck even their chapter president voted to keep them out of the playoffs.....

Re: PYFL Calabsas Raiders kicked out of league
Wow. The landscape of football is changing.
I'm conflicted.
Part of me yearns for the old smash-mouth, clothes-line em, helmet to helmet collision stye. But the other part pauses and ponders the former team-mates who have suffered depression, multiple post career surgeries, brain disease, and even suicide linked to depression/health issues.
Love to see the film, so one could have an informed opinion.

Re: PYFL Calabsas Raiders kicked out of league
It was Agoura parents apparently that have been complaining and most of the PYFL board members I understand are from (or used to be) from Agoura.
And then they wonder why Agoura HS has such a poor showing. Mommy dose not like when little Jonnie gets tackled so she complains...
Agoura PYFL has been incredibly "soft" for the past few years. The last time they were any good was when the 2 older Jones kids were there (7 years ago?).
On the other side, Calabasas is kind of known to like to hit. I know there are a couple of them @ Crespi.

RE: PYFL Calabsas Raiders kicked out of league
It was not the Agoura parents, it was the chapter reps for every single team that they played this season. They PYFL board had nothing to do with it, after much discussion, there was a motion made and a vote was taken by every chapter. There was ONE single vote against the motion and it wasn't even from Calabasas.

RE: PYFL Calabsas Raiders kicked out of league
Once again we have the question of when does hard football become dirty football. We all know that football is a physical sport. Look at all the injuries we see from the youngest of players to the Pros. Perhaps one of the big reasons is the hard surfaces the guys play on. Hard to hit the ground the wrong way and get any help from surfaces like grass.
In this case the League had already warned Calabasas about cheap hits. If you warn people to cease doing certain things there must be consequences and repurcussions. Apparently this happened here. You want kids to play hard but not dirty. Doesn't surprise me.
It's not whether you win or lose but what you learn as a member of your team that really matters.

Re: PYFL Calabsas Raiders kicked out of league
As with all levels of football from pee-wee to the league: It starts and stops with the HC. Unfortunately, good ones- few and far between-IMO.Most importantly when dealing with the little dudes, good coaching is vital to instilling correct hitting technique and execution, self respect and most importantly, respect for your opponent by way of hard and clean hitting. Unfortunately, Calabasas is not the first or last chapter to have the "wrong" things conveyed to the athlete. Thus, is why many parents search for a well run youth program and yes, even explore traveling to get to well run high school program.

I watched the video of the Agoura game and it seemed like just another game to me. I dont know about the race card but if Calabasas wants to play good competition they need to step up and join the Valley Youth Conference

Re: PYFL Calabsas Raiders kicked out of league
Typical calabasas it's been going in for years last year was high school kids playing for the youth football coach then a couple years was the crespi running back that was over aged playing and they couldn't get a birth certificate to prove his age.... It's about time that the pyfl has balls to finally do something about it now hopefully they start looking at the other chapters

Re: PYFL Calabsas Raiders kicked out of league
They shoulda kicked their azz out last year when their senior black team was using HS football players from Compton in their youth games.....PYFL has been a joke the past few years too by allowing rampant cheating to take place.

The Calabasas Raider Youth Football Organization's high school players wouldn't be able to make weight..

Re: PYFL Calabsas Raiders kicked out of league
Absolutely color has nothing to do with it that program has alot of coaches that don't coach these kids sportsmanship or respect and it is not Only that team it's been going on for a long time...... But agoura isn't any better they call foul on anything and refs are getting $100 hand shakes playing in agoura your not only playing the team but the refs as well ..... I think the coach was terry Blythe that had the freshman calabasas boys playing for his youth football sr black

Re: PYFL Calabsas Raiders kicked out of league
I hate to sound raceist and don't mean too but I counted 11 Black kids on the team picture. The city of calabasas is 85 % white and 2% African American. I wouldn't be surprised if they were bringing in kids from Compton.Look at # 44. He doesn't look like the kind of kid that would be living down the street from the Kardashians. they should do this with their high school team. We all know The pyfl will do something about it but we all know the CIF won't.
