texas 2006.  Vince Young running right towards us in the endzone corner section. Also tied were the 8 years and 12 years loses against UCLA and ND.  OK that made it three not one toughest loss!

Re: What's the toughest loss for you in USC history?

texas. with all the missteps and incompetent refs, we should have won, i have to live with this debacle;

a bit of joy about a month ago i saw a guy wearing a USC jersey number 5 with the name BUSH on the back;

I looked at it and instantly felt pride and envy, I wanted that jersey;

that jersey makes me relive the glory years and simultaneously tell Dees to go **** himself;

i want that jersey more than ever;

by the way I saw a USC football jersey for sale:  # 32 name on the back Simpson. tempted....

Texas. Then the bogus field management with Todd Marinovich in South Bend. I forget the year though.

-Here's one from an older fan:  1965 vs. UCLA.  We dominated the action for almost the whole game (but didn't put it out of reach), and were leading by 10 points with about 4 1/2 minutes to play.  Final score:  20-16.  Just awful.  It cost us a trip to the 1966 Rose Bowl, and got the Bruins thinking of themselves as worthy again.

2005 Texas left me a shriveled mess for weeks. Nothing compares.

I think it was the 92 UCLA game where John Barnes came from behind and scored 3 touchdowns at the end of the 4th qtr and beat SC.  Like 38-37, It was that idiot Barnes throwing to LaChapple.  I think

Then the Texas game, very hard to get over.

WE ARE SC

Texas, all we needed was one yard, I still don't know how they stopped Lendale.

Not even close for me.  Texas.  How every call, bounce and lucky break could go one team's way.........if I think about it too much, I still get mad.  So close to the "Three-Pete", which I wanted desperately.......but, it just wasn't meant to be.

FIGHT ON!

Yea, 2006 in the loss to Texas for the National Title but a close second is the Rose Bowl loss to Ohio State in January 1970 for the National Title also.

Inadequate defense that we were getting away with in 2006 for too long because the offense was so powerful.  Yet official calls killed USC with wrong judgements.  Key injuries

An inadequate Offense in 1969 that was dependent too much upon one running back and no passing game
.   His fumbles proved to me football was a team game and the Heisman trophy was of little consolation for losing that game.

I don't think I can pick just one.  Yea the Texas loss was tough as the better team lost.  Also the Oregon loss and Stanford losses in recent history where SC was favored by more than 20..

Texas in the '06 Rose Bowl. Others are close but we really wanted this one to get the 'three peat'.

The 88 ND game. We win that and we were on track for a NC, and Peete probably would've been our 1st QB Heisman. Yes the 2006 UT Rose bowl loss was tough and was on the verge of making us the 1st 3 peat champs, but it was on the heels of 2 straight so it wasn't that tough of a loss for me personally.

Hate to say it but their are a lot, The one that really bothered me was 1963? the leprechauns under Parsegian purposly played to a tie against Michigan St knowing the last game of the year was against a weak USC team and if they won they win the national championship they creamed us. I do remember McKay saying to his staff I don't ever want to lose to those SOB's again.

'88 ND game

I had never seen us beat the Irish to that point, I was a senior.  We had just beat Troy Aikman in the famous measles game the week before, had crushed #3 Oklahoma and Jamelle Holloway earlier in the year...it just felt like a special season. Tony Rice left it in a shambles.

The Texas game was bad too because so many things had to go wrong in that game to lose...and they did.

2006 Rose Bowl

In a way, we were probably better off not winning, since the group of hypocrites called the NCAA would have stripped that title too.

You were close but that was 1966.  McKay got his revenge in 1967 in South Bend with OJ and a great defense.

13-9, without question. Somehow even worse than 41-38.
