RG3 measures at 6' 2 3/8 " at combine

RG3 measures at 6' 2 3/8 " at combine

INDIANAPOLIS -- NFL.com analyst Gil Brandt reported this morning that former Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III measured 6-2 3/8 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Griffin had said he would measure taller than his listed 6-2. Some analysts wondered if he would even be 6-1.

Griffin's height news only adds to his rising draft stock. He and Andrew Luck are virtual locks to go 1-2 in April.

Indianapolis holds the first overall pick and is expected to take Stanford's Andrew Luck. St. Louis holds the second pick and is looking to deal; the Browns and Redskins are considered to be the leading suitors.

Sweet!

This is probably dissapointing news for those who don't want anything to do with the guy... noidea

I guess that "RGIII is the same height as Colt and will measure 6 feet or under at the combine" argument is out the window.

Now we can move on to "He ran a one read gimmick offense with no chance of succeeeding in the NFL." tongue

"Before success comes in any man's life he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat and, perhaps, some failures. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to quit. That is exactly what the majority of men do." Napoleon Hill

In a completely meeningless way that's huge news. tongue

Is that measurement done with shoes on?  Always thought the NBA was weird using shoe measurements because of the variability it generates.

I do realize people get hung up on the 6'2'' threshold.  He's still small, and its his slight build that's worrisome more so than his height, but from a p.r. perspective this is much better than him measuring out at 6'1.5".

You are correct; it's all perception.

I am pretty sure that it's done in bare feet.

Supposedly, he weighs the same as Tannehill and Weeden, who are 1 5/8" taller.biggrin

Aaron Rodgers is 6' 2" 22; 225 pounds

Do you have that in millimeters?

I think it's important.
Trust me: you don't want to mess with me, son.

Did they get a hand measurement? In all seriousness, I think that is a major issue in the winter when that ball turns into a rock. I have a feeling this has been an issue for Colt.

Well, that takes away one excuse why we shouldn't draft him.

Well the kid is honest. All I kept reading was that he was sub 6'2" - he said he was slightly over and that was bang on.

I saw on NFL network that Luck is not ruling out throwing now. I hope they both decide to throw.

I was looking for that, too.   Smallish hands are a bigger worry to me than being an inch less in stature.

The NBA benefits from having a bunch of 7-footers. It makes the sport seem larger than life. If it takes adding an inch of footwear here and there, so be it.

RG3 is not small... if you saw him in real life, you'd think he was a big guy. Or just look at this picture:

Is it just me, or does Andrew Luck look mildly uncomfortable in that shot?

Re: RG3 measures at 6' 2 3/8 " at combine

RG3 is a legit 6'3" with shoes on, low body fat and good flexibility.  He has all the physical attributes you like to see in any NFL player.  He's also a smart guy with no off the field issues.  Accuracy is my main concern.  I wish I could see him play one game in the WCO before the combine, but we don't have that luxury.  I'm glad I'm not TH and MH making this decision.  Because they have to get it right this time.  I see too much upside to pass on this kid.  He has star written all over him.

correct.........funny because Spielman and his partner on ESN both said before the Texas game they seen him and both were impressed with his build and how thick his upper body actually was...I remember Spielman specifically saying he was definitely over 6'2 and in his opinion about 225.....pretty spot on... this is BIG and I'm glad it's no longer a debate on his size
