Cuts have begun.

Cuts have begun.

ProFootballTalk @ ProFootballTalk 4m

Browns release RB Dion Lewis, per league source.

Guess that means Crowell makes the active roster.

Total so far:

Lewis
Gilkey
Burleson
Ogbonnaya
Staples
Shaw
McFadden
McDaniels
Gray

Pity. He was the only back that was a true change of pace. But difficult cuts are a good thing.

Too bad they could not get a 7th round pick for him.

If they cut him early, they must believe they have more valuable players to potentially deal?

It's kind of a bummer.  Guy had to work hard to come back too.  Scat backs are a luxury though and they have a big strong guy that can motor with Crowell.

I was looking forward to seeing him get a chance but a good sign that we couldn't keep him.

Yeah, we're just brimming with talent. The other 31 teams eagerly await our cuts.   tongue

Not only do we not have any players from 54 on down that anybody is going to waste a draft pick on acquiring, but by the end of next week we will have cut 3, 4 or 5 players that will have initially survived to the final 53 - to pick up players from off the street that other teams have let go.

He didn't look all that quick or fast this year. Guys his size need to be.

It's unfortunate he got injured last year but with the emergence of Crowell, this had to happen.

Too bad. Good kid.
Hasn't had the same exceleration since the bone break.
Crowell made this cut between Lewis and OBY.
Wish him well but when we cut good players we are making progress as an organization
Means we have talent.
Wish the kid luck

Emmanuel Acho was cut by the Eagles. So it was an even trade where neither team benefited.

I'm a fan of Dion but I was very unimpressed with him this preseason. No surprise here imo.

too bad because after last year's preseason I thought we had something....  oh well hopefully that means Crowell will turn into something
Just want to see some wins from a good competitive team, to quit having the draft be the highlight of my year & to enjoy my Sundays again.

Not surprised by the Gilkey cut- didn't the Browns just pick up two new guards this past week? Frankly not sure there is anyone on the 2nd string o-line worth keeping- they were pretty bad the entire pre-season.

Bad form out of West- before cuts are even announced

Bingo. I agree he's a schmuck. Maybe it's his 2.8 ypc that makes him feel so entitled.

How does that help him? He goes on the waiver wire and any team can put a claim on him up until 12 noon tomorrow.
