It's a little early to say this but there is a 50-50 chance that you are right. Just like any late first round project QB.
I'm a Browns fan because nine out of ten voices in my head told me to!!

I typically like your takes, this one not so much. At 22 JFF was great value. The kid needs to watch and learn, once the game slows down for him he will be better than Hoyer or any other Qb we've had since 1999. The coaching staff have said he's ahead of where they expected him to be at this point and others say he's like a savant football-wise. He just needs time to grow into what he can be. When he figures it out he could be a dangerous weapon on offense.

Sort of like bitching about the opening credits of a movie. BORING.

At the very least, Manziel sold an ass of tickets. At best, he's a future franchise QB. Courtney Brown was awesome at this stage of his career. John Elway was terrible. Almost as bad as SD's post.

Clearly if a pick hasn't reached their full potential by the 3rd week of preseason during their rookie year the writing is on the wall.  I say cut him.

SD:

What do you expect them to say .

They like that he flipped the DC team the bird .

They liked having all those heart to heart talks with him , only for him to flip them the bird and tell them he ain't gonna change.

You can pull the crap he's pulled when you produce.

When you don't ,  your ass is grass .

He's not a starting QB for the NFL ...........not now ...not even close.

That's a problem .

2015 draft is a coming , that's not a light at the end of the tunnel Johnnie.

Ever buy a stock before?

It's kinda like that.

Don't mortgage the farm on a long shot (we didn't)

Don't freak out if it doesn't go up right away.

Watch for trends/patterns.

Don't make decisions on emotion.

If it does end up being a dog, dump it.  Take the loss and move on.
Fast, cheap, or good.

Pick two.

This. Plus the Browns have an extra first round pick next year if they need to use it.
When they drafted Quinn they gave away a first round pick the following year.
That proved to be very costly.

Too early to say that, but it's not looking good.

Been to every regular season game played at CBS/FES since 99. Prediction 1/15/13- Johnny FootTALL = Bust. Hope i'm wrong if we draft him

I think the intention was so sit Manziel for a year but Hoyer screwed it up by being so awful. I think they expected Hoyer to separate himself noticeably but he didn't which is why we are where we are.

Assinine.

He was drafted for where the browns think he will be in five years. Not game one in 2014.

Did I want the browns to draft him? Hell no.

Is he a wasted pick in august 2014? Hell no.

Pettine is already on the hot seat with Haslam. 0-3 and he will be second guessed by the owner who wanted Johnny.

If  you are calling a Browns player a wasted pick after his second preseason game then 'Browns fan' is not the word used to describe you.

As one with a decade long history of trading body blows with SD in nasty ally scaps, I am pretty sure thats not his angle here.

He can speak for himself but before you decide up from down, just take this perspective:

- As of May, with Bortles assumed off board, compare the 14 & 15 QB classes as prospects;

- if, as it turns out, no magic from college is going to short cut Manziel's development and he appears to be a project so far;

- Hoyer appears to be the caretaker QB this season;

- if you had ONE goal for the Browns THIS season, Jimmy Haslam's Browns, what would tvat goal be?

Now, you have the 22 nd overall pick to use in this context. Evaluate.

Re: Manziel so far , ....wasted pick

I have zero butt hurt over this. I firmly believe Hoyer should have been named starter yesterday. Manziel isn't ready and Hoyer needs all of the first team reps so the passing offense can get their timing down.

My point was simply that your original post is garbage.

Actually, so far he is awesome!  To date it's all about publicity and marketing, jersey sales, attention.

So far, he is a great pick.

Once the season starts, when we start grading on football game performance, wins and losses... that may very well be a different story.

But so far, Johnny is delivering the attention.
