Re: Team-by-team 2013 strength of schedule
Can the Browns move to the AFC West?
Amazing how a great team like Denver can be set up with the easiest schedule in the league.

Re: Team-by-team 2013 strength of schedule
I think this is one of the most misleading statistics to base opinion on prior to the season.
It assumes the opponent will perform the exact same as previously and is based solely on W-L. There is impact of free agency, the draft, injury, trending... there are just too many variables in play. Who would have picked the Eagles to be 4-12 heading into the 2012 season? Same with the Lions? Seattle performed well above expectations as did the Colts.

SOS is about the most worthless information out there. It NEVER holds up once the pads are on. Strong teams from last year fade, teams that were bad are now playing good... its just a crap shoot.
Add to that, the level of competition is razor thin. There really is not much separating the best from the worst. That’s why you see upsets all the time.
I could be suave... but how many crude guys do you know?

I tried to find the same information for 2012 so we could see how informative it actually was but I can't find it on nfl.com.

I've searched for a post review comparison in the past and never came up with anything worth reading. With the right writer, it could be an interesting column. IMO.

Re: Team-by-team 2013 strength of schedule
Its worthless to do before the season, but you can go back and look at last years. As the Browns were finishing of the 9ers at the end of 2007 my brothers were talking super bowl and the Browns resurgence. I said to them 8-8, this year schedule was very week next years wont be so easy.

Re: Team-by-team 2013 strength of schedule
I searched outside nfl.com and found SOS rankings for 2012, both pre-season (based on 2011's results) and post-season (based on how many games opponents actually won in 2012).
Pre: http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/56896/ 2012-nfl-strength-of-schedule
Post: http://nfltraderumors.co/2012-nfl-strength-of-sche dule/
Without actually crunching the numbers, it looks like SOS from year x is not a very good predictor of SOS in year x+1. For instance, the Browns were initially ranked as having the third hardest SOS but wound up tied for 14th. The Broncos started at 2nd and finished tied for 28th.
