People watch too much TV
I don't know if any of you have seen Barter King or Storage Hunters or any of those shows but man they got people kinda insane. Craigslist used to a cool place to get stuff now I swear people watch these shows and think they can turn a pack of gum into a car. People have lost their freaking minds. I don't buy storage units but a buddy of mine used to go to the auctions and he said in the past year alot of new people have started coming and paying stupid prices for crap. Do people really think they can watch these shows and instantly get rich doing things like this. It reminds me of a few years ago people thinking they could roll out and start flipping houses with no experience.

RE: People watch too much TV
Storage Wars is a setup, FYI. The producers plant stuff in units to guarantee the gold strike moments.

I mean, so is Pawn Stars. The producers actively search for sellers of interesting items. People dont generally bring Picassos into Pawn Shops weekly

RE: People watch too much TV
My enemy was Antiques Roadshow. I was on the board of a local museum and as soon that show hit it big we had great, great grand nephews coming out of the woodworks wanting donated items back from great Aunt Matilda 80 years ago.. greedy a-holes.

If anyone has ever lost a piece of luggage while flying, Baggage Battles has got to be quite the insult.

I think that one would depend on which side of the desk you are sitting on. I could see that going both ways.

Another problem.
People are breathing too much oxygen. It's hurting the ozone. Can't they stop cherry picking what gases they drink in? Passing over nitrogen and the other inert (and not so inert) gases to go straight for the good stuff.
It's like those jerks that skip the peanuts and eat the cashews and pecans. I am known to do that, but I don't particularly like it when it's done to me.

RE: People watch too much TV
antiques roadshow is a good show, as is pawn stars. But I can see your arguments that it messes up the markets.
I'm surprised they don't have one about automobile wholesale auctions...I wouldn't be surprised to see it between used car dealers fighting it out at the auction.

Re: People watch too much TV
On Pawn Stars, the guys only show up at the shop for the TV show nowadays. The people trying to sell them things have been set up in advance and receive $2,000 just for appearing on the show. Next time you wonder how they could let something go for such a low price, it's because they're already getting paid.
