Ahhh a fiction fan,
Don't understand your need to editorialize when other similar posts weren't included under your appointed umbrella.
Its called a joke Francis.. try it sometime.
actually, it wasn't a joke as much as a direct attack on his faith, thus why he was offended. The line between humor and mean-spirited attack is often blurred by the very nature of the vehicle, and where each person draws the line is often subjective. Eliminating all that, you used the mask of humor as an avenue to insult the man's religion, that's pretty clear. As such, the response shouldn't surprise you.

Me too. I love how he always says those GD Steelers, those F-ing Steelers etc. He hates them because they were supposed to draft him and then he ended up showing them. I just finished the Don Rogers chapter.

I read that series as well.  I liked it as a whole, my favorite is Dragon Tattoo.  The movie did the book no justice, I'm gonna have to watch the original and compare.

DeMille is very entertaining.  I love how all his characters are such wise guys. cool  My wife got it (the Panther) for me at Christmas.  It's a longer book than Plum Island, Lion, Lion's Game etc.

The other book I read in about a day was The Last Man by Vince Flynn.  All the Mitch Rapp books are good.

Also read The Last Kid Picked and Playing for Pizza in the last month.

Heard Stalingrad was good.  I'll have to pick that one up.

However, Go Dog Go is a classic@!

You might have already read them however I thought I  share a few good choices if you like the Mitch Rapp series by Flynn.

Andrew Britton has a series out with a character Ryan Kealey that I really like a lot. I prefer his style over Flynn's to be honest. Along the same lines however.

Another one is Alex Berenson and his series with a character named John Wells. Again, along the same lines of Flynn. Both authors are very good.

An author I like is Alex Berenson.  His main charecter is John Wells who infiltrated Al Queda in the 90's.  Good stuff.

The best book I've ever read is "The Grapes of Wrath."  I got on a kick of re-reading (or actually reading) books I was supposed to read in college.

I want to see the original as well. I've only seen the English version which I thought was good, not great.

I believe they are filming or about to start filming the second one.

That is a pretty good read.

I recommend anything by Wilbur Smith. A south african author. Guy wrote some excellent novels. His earlier stuff is the best imo.(All the books of the Courtney family. First series.)
When the Lion Feeds.
Shout at the Devil.
A Sparrow Falls.
etc.,etc.

I like the TV show Castle, so I am reading "Heat Rises" by Richard Castle. Yes, I know it's not really Richard Castle, yes, I know it's entirely shallow reading, but that's exactly what I want right now, a mere distraction.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.  Got it at half price books for 50 cents.  Didn't see the big show there.

About 1/3 through it.  I read 10 to 15 pages a night before turning off the light and going to sleep.

My favorite author is Ken Follett.  Incredible fiction based on historical events.  Pillars of the Earth was awesome.  Also read Jackdaws, Hornet Flight, and some others.  Never a disappointment.  Lots of books about WWII Germany.

I've read them all, and it can be confusing with all the characters and who is who.
Waiting for the last book, which I can fathom how he's gonna wrap it all up in one novel.

A lot different than the movie version...

Much much better than the movie version.  Completely different play-out and interaction of the characters.  Great book, average movie.
