Winner.
Honorable Mentions
Rockford Files Bonanza Dallas Johnny Carson (The Tonight Show) The Fugitive Add Mannix and Police Squad! to the honorable mention delete Dallas and this works for me. Dallas was kind of an after-thought. I never cared much for soap-operas. This one was a cut above the rest and definitely more of a chick series.

Thought of 2 more:
Taxi. Funny stuff, some great actors who went on to bigger and better things.
Leave it to Beaver. Classic. Lots of G-rated laughs. And how 'bout June and Ward getting dressed up every night for the family dinner.

RE: Five best TV series of all time
I agree with most of the other offerings here, but I can't believe that it took almost three full pages to get to Miami Vice (nice job, tonedef). This show defined pop culture and was groundbreaking in its use of music, both from the charts and Jan Hammer's original compositions. As tonedef said, it was very dark, edgy stuff at the time. It has to at least be considered, I believe.
"Cleveland's a very unique place," Baron Davis said. "... you just have to spend some time in order to understand it and a lot of people don't spend the time... there's a lot of great restaurants, a lot of great areas to hang out. I love it here."

I didnt see St. Elsewhere mentioned here...great great show. For those that don't know, it's where Denzel Washington got his start.

Re: Five best TV series of all time
The Wire Scrubs Game of Thrones (sorry, cannot think of suitable picks for 4 & 5. I don't want to put just anything)
The Wire is hands down my favorite. It is dislog heavy and largely action dificient, which could lose many people. I was told by someone I trust to watch it and to look past the pilot episodes and see the potential, by episode 3 or 4 I was hooked and the series became one of my absolute favorites of all time. The drama between the street folks and the REAL police and the police officials was real.
I have only seen 3 episodes of Breaking Bad, so I cannot put it on this list though others swear by it.
