...but I don't like the back end....the light configuration make it look too much like a Camaro

Agreed.  It's bad enough they killed the pop-up headlights, but the round tail-lights too?

Other than that, it's a masterpiece.

Cars as status symbols. Been there. Its cool. But sixty grand ?

My truck is much more practical for my needs and cost a little more than a 1/4  of what that vette costs .

A little trivia. In 1963/4 you could buy a Stingray for less than 4 grand.

In 1963/4, you only made $3 or $4000 per year, all relative.

Well, a pickup truck is incredibly impractical for me and boring as dog crap to drive compared to a Vette. Should I go around complaining about high end pickup trucks?

Good looking car.  Not a big fan of the LED headlights in general.  Love the exhaust unique and very cool.

To me Vette's have always been associated with old guys trying to be young and relevant again. Maybe because it's an uncle was doing just that with a few of them while I was growing up.

Luxury cars > sports cars.

These days I'd rather ride in style than ride real fast.

Sports sedans, best of both worlds.

I miss Saab, crazy f"""k cars in so many ways, but what a kick to drive and still seat 4.

Even entry level cars today are so much better than the 70's and 80's in terms of features, reliability, handling, safety.

And if it's straight line power you dig, muscle cars are (kind of) coming back. Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, Dart, even a Super Bee. Somebody drop some Cragar Mags, Holley 4bbl's and a Hurst shifter on me.

Growing up, Joe Hrudka (Mr Gasket) was on my paper route. He would park his trailered 33 Willys Gasser in his driveway. To my 8 year old eyes it was the most beautiful machine I'd ever seen. Candy Apple Red with gold leaf lettering, blown hemi, huge slicks, and a drag chute.

Yeah I heard that stereotypical mindless type comment when I bought my first Harley too...

Its all media generated   bullsh it   bought into by people who have no mind of their own

The fact is for the avg guy if you raise a family you can't afford one till your 50

End of story

...and it beats the crap out of sleddogging in Canuckland

You don't buy them new...you buy used...just check out ebay and see what you can get for 20K. Long term they have solid value but out the gate they drop like rocks like any other new car

Personally I got rid of a truck and into a Wrangler 2 yrs ago and love it

BTW, The new Accuras are hot, too

It's not media driven. As I clearly said, my impression of this came from an uncle who had a new one every time he came around for a family function. He would joke about being divorced and using the car to get younger woman. eek

To each their own. If you like it, drive it. I admire Harley's and we agree the Acura's are a nice ride. Corvette's aren't my thing.

And … this Canadian drives a German sled with a lot of horses, no dogs.

Hate the Camaro rear end, otherwise love it. I prefer the non-pop-up headlights.

Got back from Detroit Auto Show just a couple days ago.

This ride is bad azzzzzzzzz......

I applaude the team at GM.

They finally built the Corvette we knew they could have.

Exotic looks.  Amazing technology.  World class performance.  And quality interior.

Bravo.

I could be suave... but how many crude guys do you know?

Re: Humminnna humminna

Personal taste.  I've never been much of a Corvette fan but I don't fault those who are.

The whole sliding down into the cockpit thing never appealed to me.  For my liking it's unnatural to get into, cramped once your in and hard to get out of.

But that's just me.  There have always been plenty of fast stylish cars that I did like so I never really missed not being on board with the Corvette.

Re: Humminnna humminna

I like it overall but it's not worthy of the Stingray name plate.

For 60-70 grand it's a deal if it performs as Vettes do today.

I'd still take a Viper every day and twice on Sunday.

Wait til you see it in person til you cast full judgement.

And nothing.... NOTHING comes close to this thing for 60k.

This is a real obtainable exotic.

Chopper IIRC there's a Mustang for about 60k that is only out classed by the ZR1 and the new Viper.

I have had two seaters, vans, and cars. The truck has been hands down the most practible.Never said it was the most fun. Obviously if you are after the thrill of high performance street cars than you can do a lot worse than the Vette.

Not complaining . Just a point of view. Of course thats not the same pov I had when I was 20 and owned a two seater sports car.

I can't imagine what the insurance is on those. Probably what I'm paying for my truck payment.

Those two cars aren't even in the same league. There's more to a sports car than straight speed.

That's a 16k ride with a hot engine.
