Lombardi a fan of Tebow?
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d82160481/art icle/tebow-will-fail-in-denver-because-no-one-has- vested-interest http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d824fa6bf/art icle/broncos-luck-is-residue-of-tebows-design-more -on-week-14From the first article: Back in 1987, when working for the 49ers, coach Bill Walsh traded for Steve Young, a journeyman quarterback with the Buccaneers. Sending a mid-round pick and some of Eddie DeBartolo's cash, Walsh saw something in Young that warranted his sponsorship. Most of the league laughed, including some in his own organization. But Walsh had a vision, a plan, and the owner's full support to make the trade, as well as the time to determine if his vision was correct. What happened to Young is what has to happen to Tebow. He will need to get traded to a coach willing to sponsor him and an owner willing to give the coach time. It won't happen in Denver, because there is no one who wants to be burdened with the pick -- including the ones in the room when the pick was made.

Can you imagine if Tim Tebow was traded to the BROWNS. Now that will be an interesting twist to this teams offense.

After the past 13 years, I'll take anyone who can get this thing turned around.

Re: Lombardi a fan of Tebow?
I don't love Tebow but I don't get the hate, either.
As Boomer Esiason has said, the best way to run an NFL offense is to have a pocket passer who can sit in the pocket and attack all points down field with a strong, accurate arm, and a mind for reading defenses. He goes on to say, however, that there are only about 6-8 people on the planet who can do that.
So if you don't have one of those 6-8 guys, what do you do? Take someone like Weeden or Geno Smith or Alex Smith and hope they can become / remain something vaguely similar to these top 6 guys?
If your answer is 'yes', that's fine. But I don't think it's the craziest thing to say, 'we dont' have brady, brees, manning, manning, Rodgers so let's try something else.' i.e. Tebow.
Like I said, I don't love Tebow. I'm all for giving Weeden a chance to develop into hopefully a very good QB. However, if you don't think Weeden can be the guy, are there really a lot of better options than Tebone?

Re: Lombardi a fan of Tebow?
Neither of the links in your first post are working.
But I've seen where Banner is supposedly interested in the spread-option offense, which I like a lot. If Lombardi is too, then I like that too.
I've also seen where Chip Kelly openly disparaged Tebow. So wouldn't that be interesting if Banner & Lombardi have been planning on targeting him and Kelly's closed mind RE: Tebow was the beginning of the end of that marriage in Cleveland; and it really was us who walked away from him, and not the other way around.
Of course, it still wouldn't make any sense why we hired Norv Turner in this scenario, but eh.
FTR, Tebow + spread option in Cleveland would be exciting, IMO.

RE: Lombardi a fan of Tebow?
I don't understand the dislike for Tebow either although he is one of the worst passers i've ever seen in a QB, honestly I think Cribbs has a better arm and is a better runner.
