2nd Official Kevin Love Watch Thread

Cavs and Minnesota have agreed to a trade framework from what I understand. The current hold-up is deciding on third team to assist with numbers - and make everyone happy.

No. I can guess, but then again, so can you.

I did hear that most of the "rumors" was leaked by one of our own players.

Again, this is just "speculation" as of now, but from what I just heard, Minnesota has pissed-off 76ers. Minnesota wants Embiid from what I heard.

LMAO. If this is true, then Flip has flipped!!!!

Actually not far from the truth. Flip is really trying to go balls to the wall with this.

The prospect of trading for love has me sitting in my house like Ron burgundy...I keep telling my family it's the pleats but they don't believe me. I wish I was on a computer so I could post a pic (of Burgundy not of myself).

Maybe their recent success at bending teams over and getting them to give them exactly who they want has gone to their head and they think everyone will do it.

Who have they bent over, other than the media?

what is the deal with Kevin Martin?  it seems like he has good stats but it does not look like anyone on this board would be interested in him too.

Salary for the next 3 years makes it very hesitant to take him on.

Re: 2nd Official Kevin Love Watch Thread

If they somehow get Dieng in this deal this team might win 70 games.  I'm just saying a front court of Dieng, Love and James, with TT, Andy, Powell, Miller and Haywood as backups would be nasty.

Imagine going small down the stretch of a close game with Love at the 5, LeBron at the 4, Wiggins at the 3, Miller at the 2 and Kyrie at point.  How do you defend that?

Dieng is probably off the table but to even get him in the deal would require giving up Wiggins. I'll continue saying it I don't want to give up Wiggins. But I'm pretty sure from everything I'm hearing that I'm gonna be pissed when the Love deal is announced.

have to agree, i don't want to give up wiggins, waiters/bennett and picks.  That's just too much.  And obviously something is going on.

It seems like it's going down soon, which on one hand could be good.  As Wiggins is reportedly about to sign, on the other hand he still hasn't signed....lol.  Almost to a point where I just want it to happen or not happen, so I can see how I feel about it.  So much speculation about whether Love can/cannot extend, which players and picks are being given up, if there's a third team involved, will the cavs be forced to take a bad contract, etc...etc...

Re: 2nd Official Kevin Love Watch Thread

On ESPN's Mike & Mike, they were asked who would you want on your team in 3 years, Love or Wiggins?  Both responded they would want Love and jusified their answer because of Love's age and his offensive double-double abilities, and totally ignored the defensive skill disparity that will exist between the 2 players.

Re: 2nd Official Kevin Love Watch Thread

Yeah I thought Bleacher Report texted saying Wiggins signed. Guess they were wrong again.  I think its telling he hasn't signed yet.  I don't see the benefit of us signing him and then waiting 30 days for a trade to happen. I am sure the Cavs would like to use August to communicate with Love.  Plus he probably wouldn't mind getting his stuff in order as well if he has to move.  Also puts the Cavs in limbo with people they are trading.

I imagine if this happens, it will before Wiggins (if he is a chess piece) signs.

Doesn't make sense to not wait a day or two.

Re: 2nd Official Kevin Love Watch Thread

I like Dieng and he certainly fills a need on this team, but I feel like he's being overrated in this discussion.

Regarding the Waiters to Philly rumor, I think it's a destination that makes a lot of sense. Perhaps he would be incentive for Philly to take on an undesirable contract or two for Minny while sending T. Young back in return?

Re: 2nd Official Kevin Love Watch Thread

the advantage is to help make the money work, but if that's not a concern for some reason like a 3rd team, you're right.  But if it's just cavs and wolves, going to have to make up that $5m somewhere, which means giving up even more.

I agree I'm ready for them to get this done. We knew they would be picking up non-guar contracts to move they did that. Wiggins still not signed, check. A 3rd team involved (Philly) check. This is coming to a head and for those  that wanted Love but didn't give away the farm probably won't be happy. I'm just hoping who I've talked to is wrong because as much as I like Love there is a such thing as panicking on the part of Griff and we may have hit it.

As some posted in one of the closed threads. We may only have 6 players on this team next year but they are gonna be really good 6 players

Re: 2nd Official Kevin Love Watch Thread

If Philly is involved, don't see why we would want T. Young? If we're bringing in Love at $15mil, why would we make a coinciding trade for another PF at $9mil? Doesn't seem to make sense to me and I don't see us playing Love or Young at C. Only C's they have are Embiid & Noel - both of which I don't see them parting with.

As such, I just don't see how Philly is involved unless they are sending "stuff" to Minny & not Cleveland. Does that mean that Philly's involvement is just to unload Young to Minny while taking on the "Non-guaranteeds" & Martin?

I never saw the connection that would help us other than them sending stuff to Minny and them getting Waiters, who Minny supposedly doesn't want noidea

Well I loathe the notion of giving up Waiters & Wiggins for this trade - sounds like you're indicating that may very well be the case.  Double oye.  So of the 6 players we'll have, one is LBJ, 3 are oft-injured (KI, KL, & Andy), one is twilight (Miller), another is already dead (Haywood), and the other a Rook.  Ouch! (and yes...I know that's 7)

Take it all with a grain of salt. He's usually reliable but it's not Dan Gilbert or Griff and even if it was I'd still say take it with a grain of salt because until it's done they don't know for sure it's done. It's funny, he HATES Flip right about now. biggrin

No if you see Waiters/Wiggins/Bennett and our Mem and Miami picks gone it's gonna be for Love and a C. No way it's all that for Love

Should be going down soon.
Third team has stepped in.
Only thing I was told is there are a lot of pieces and parts involved. More bodies and $ than anticipated.
And cavs are going all in for the next 4-6 years.
Hate to lose some young guys but the endgame can make this really, really interesting for cavs fan for a real legitimate run....
When the dust settles the guys we have left standing will put them in a legitimate championship run
Maybe get a rim protector out of it. Some folks may not be happy

Jack Burton: I'm a reasonable guy. But, I've just experienced some very unreasonable things.

You don't see us playing Love at Center?  Really?  Miami was playing Bosh at Center pretty regularly, and I don't see any reason to believe LeBron won't continue to play as much PF as he does SF.  I'd quess at least a 3rd of the time Love is on the court he'll be playing Center.

The Thad Young thing is confusing to me too.  His salary certainly doesn't seem to fit here, and I'd think if Minnesota (or anyone) wanted him they'd already have him.  I guess maybe Minny likes him but never needed him with Love in place.

Looks like you are getting your wish

tidho, just because we have our own version of the "big 3" doesn't mean that Blatt is gonna mimick their offense. Different skillsets for the 2 teams. Just because Bosh did something in Miami doesn't mean Love will do that here.
