Eric Holder, Attorney Gen. says we have no right to possess guns

Eric Holder, attorney general says we have no right to possess guns.

TAKES 10 SECONDS ... DO IT AND PASS IT ON Own a Gun? Please Keep it moving.  Guess  they were not happy with the poll results the first time, so USA Today is running another one... Vote now.

Attorney General, Eric Holder, has already said this is one of his major issues. He does not believe the 2nd Amendment gives individuals the right to bear arms. This takes literally 2 clicks to complete. Please vote on this gun issue question with USA Today. It will only take a few seconds of your time. Then pass the link on to all the pro- gun folks you know. Hopefully these results will be published later this month. This upcoming year will become critical for gun owners with the Supreme Court's accepting the District of Columbia case against the right for individuals to bear arms.

Here's what you need to do:

First - vote on this one. Second- launch it to other folks and have THEM vote - then we will see if the results get published. Click below to vote.

If you want to win this battle all you have to do is prove that you can kill anybody with anything. I could terminate someone with a paper clip, thick rubber band and some ELmers Glue.   I could walk through my house and find a big TV, my car, my computer, a three day old piece of meatloaf,  tire iron, a bag of bottles, a knife, a fork, a baseball bat, my wife's cooking (LOL). All of which are capable of killing someone if used the right way. Can u outlaw all of those? No, because they are common everyday items but they can kill anyone as good as a gun if used as a weapon. Don't worry about gun control. Worry about elected people who don't know how to make sense and put them against the wall for their stupidity. Any time anyone brings this up its either for votes or lobbying, money/campaign contributions.

Re: Eric Holder, Attorney Gen. says we have no right to possess

I'd be interested to know if he believes Americans should have the right to bear arms. That is a different question than how he interprets the 2nd Amendment. Honestly I think his interpretation is almost certainly correct from a legal POV. It wouldn't be popular or even enforceable, but probably correct. I would support legislation to clarify the issue and give Americans that right with certainty. But just because that is what I want doesn't mean that what we have already.

1. The Second Amendment absolutely guarantees the right to own firearms.

2. The Second Amendment is a terrible law. Just godawful stupid in this day and age.

3. The Second Amendment will never be changed due to the power of special interests.

4. None of you agree with number 2.

Re: Eric Holder, Attorney Gen. says we have no right to possess

I could care less if people want to own guns because i think most people like hunters, target shooters, etc are pretty responsible.  My question is this, am I the only person that reads the 2nd amendment as that people can own guns because they may be called to serve in a militia?  There was no army like there is today so they went and picked people up to serve, and those people needed to be able to own guns so if called into duty they were prepared.  Maybe I'm looking into the language too much but I've always thought the right to bear arms was related to serving in the militia back in the 1700's, not any specific right as it seems to be interpreted nowadays.

Why do you say that, bobby?

I'll be the first to admit, I'm different than most people on certain issues...

I'm conservative on gun control, yet I'm liberal on drug use.

I tend to draw parallels between the two - to put it simply, the "bad" people will always use them or have them, regardless of the laws.  Outlawing them only makes them more dangerous and puts the rest of us at risk.

There's just no good reason for an average citizen to have a firearm. Just my opinion.

I've lived in countries where guns are outlawed, and countries where guns are absolutely everywhere. The ones without guns felt a hell of a lot safer to me. Just my personal experience.

But it doesn't matter. Weapons manufacturers have made a ton of cash preying on men's worst fears and selling them on the false notion that if they just pony up a few bucks for a pistol they can make sure that nothing bad will ever happen to their wife and kids. It is a message that brings in big bucks and gives these companies a lot of power, and a message that their customers are desperate to believe in. Any politician who threatens to shatter that delusion will be tossed out on his ass. Just my take.

Right, I gotcha.  Personally I don't own one, I just never grew up around them.  Honestly if I ever held a gun I'd prolly go Barney Fife and blow my foot off.

Like I said, i Just think if they were outlawed, it's a lot more dangerous place.  Bad people don't care what the law is and they will always have them.

Same thing with drugs but that's another discussion for another day...

typical lefty nonsense bobby....

You don't want to own a gun, don't...   look at every country that has had strict gun control laws and jpw they "deal" with their populace.

You perhaps look forward to the gov't controlling every aspect of your life. Most of us don't.

RE: Eric Holder, Attorney Gen. says we have no right to possess

The idiocy of the gun controlfaction is that the NRA ,members and the conceal carry crowd are not the ones ccreating a problem. Gangbangers and drug dealers and their ilk are the bulk of the problem-so bitching to the rest of us who do not go around shooting up the joint is pretty stupid. The problem is with the other two related groups who have unregistered firearms. Regrettably a lot of this is race related-either black on black violent crime or black on white violent crime, per the Justice Department's annual statistical report on national crime. I am guessing that most of these violent crimes are drug related in some way. Check out Chart 42 of the statistical report at its web site. An eye opener is that black on white assaults are 6.5 times greater in the 2006 report around. Just why does any gun control advocate think that there are 300,000 conceal carry permit holders in ohio now with an annual increase of 75,ooo per year? We had a drug related break in of my neighbor's house recently, two girls were shot to death by a gang banger while robbing a gas station a year ago and a distant relative of mine was shot to death by a gang banger in Elyria two years ago as an unarmed victim during a drug related crime. When I went to my conceal carry class in Ceveland six months ago, I heard some pretty crazy stories of women who had their homes broken into on the near Wet Side three times before finally getting fed up and obtaining a conceal carry permit.

This is the kind of danger that did not occur even twenty years ago. And certainly there was no major issue with the NRA back then. Guys, the NRA-and I am not a member-is being scapegoated. When black gangbangers drive by a funeral in Florida as they did a few days ago, shooting 14 blacks and killing two of them or when they shoot 13 in Chicago-including D. Wade's nephew-and kill two-this has NOTHING to do with the NRA. An clearly, this thugs were not using registered handguns or carbines.

I am a former infantry platoon leader who never wanted to see a weapon again after my service, but now feel I have to do so. But times have changed. And when it starts happening around you to friends, relatives and neighbors, spilling out to your onw neighborhood reality sets in pretty damn fast.

While this is true, what others have said is true also. If you outlaw guns the only people that will turn them in are the ones that abide by the current laws. The thugs and gangbangers will still have them and then they will know the house they are breaking into will not. This is exactly what happened in Australia, when they outlawed guns to the cost of more than 2 Million tax payer dollars, crime went up, the criminals knew they had an advantage.
