Stephen Hill???

Stephen Hill just ran a 4.3 40 at the combine at 6'4" and 215 lbs... Hello Cleveland??? I believe that Mary Kay or someone dropped his name yesterday!!!

I'm watching some live combine coverage and just saw him.  Wow, dude is quick and he has great size.  Also comes from G Tech which has been just pumping out top WR prospects the last few years.

Interesting prospect either way, but he just got a lot more expensive.

Michael Floyd is raising some eyebrows as well.

All the more reason why you don't spend a top 5 pick on a WR like Blackmon. Who is a good prospect but not worth top 5 pick IMO

Lets draft him based on his speed alone.... Can he even catch the ball? 40 is overrated.

Haven't seen any game footage on him, but today dude is catching everything.  I haven't seen him even come close to dropping one.  Actually, he made the best catch of the morning on a diving grab.

The guys on NFL network won't stop talking about him, the way he looks right now, some team will take a leap and grab him in the first.

The thing about WR from Georgia Tech, they don't get a lot of opportunities in that offense.  It is so run heavy with the option, that they don't get a lot of balls thrown to them.  Hill might be a sleeper.

Nobody said make him a 1st round pick but he is helping himself today with speed and showing good hands.

Hill is a sleeper. Yes he had a couple drops but he also had some very nice catches. He reminds me a lot of Demarius Thomas.

Winner of the Underwear Olympics for sure.

Let's face facts though. 28 catches this year. 15 last year. That's for a whole season, not a game. He's a highlight tape and a project.

Obviously he's a project, but one that should be worth the risk in round two. And that was my belief BEFORE his 4.30.

He's quite on the level of Damaryius Thomas (no one is close to Calvin Johnson's), but Thomas's best year at GaTech 46. Not exactly mindblowing either (albeit better than Hill of course).

Thomas had 3 years with more production than Hill. Hill's 2nd best season is 15 catches.

I know. There was a typo in my previous reply. He's NOT quite on the level of Thomas. I don't put him in the same place. But it's not like production is a major indicator within that offense.

It's not, but it wasn't as much of an excuse for Calvin or Thomas as it is becoming for Stephen Hill. IMO, if he's a stud you go out of your way to get him the ball, not just when he's open running a 9 route.

I don't hate Stephen Hill either, I just hate excuses and overhyped players.

I had Stephen Hill as the 1st pick of the 2nd round over a month ago. Nothing to do with his 40, everything to do withi his projection to the next level. I've said it over and over and I'll say it again. Stephen Hill is as talented as any wide receiver in this draft class.

There are going to be 32 teams looking at all the school's game tape and attending the workouts.

A number of teams are going ot ask for personal workouts.

He is a second round pick, I doubt he ever makes it to the middle of the third round.

Re: Stephen Hill???

In my preCombine post I was saying Stephen Hill would be one of the biggest risers.  Check out his broad jump at 11.1"     He has had problems with easy dropsmore the season before but still drops some.

Here's a post I wrote about him in this thread on the question of how is he different to Carlton Mitchell:
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s...7&t=8695839

Stephen Hill doesn't have huge numbers because he plays in Georgia Tech's triple option offense. He had 28 catches for 820 yards but a whopping 29.3 average. He left early for financial reasons and because of his low production and that he is young he will have an adjustment to the NFL.   He really needs to learn better route running.  But the size, speed ratio is what scouts are all excited about.   We'll see what he runs and measures in at, but he is a big guy. They list him 6.5", 205 lbs. and that may not be a lie.  Former Georgia Tech standout Demaryius Thomas was used in a similar way and is becoming Denver's number one option. Good thing about Hill is playing in the triple option, he can run block and on tape you can see him do it well.   Bad thing is he has had some drops and they were easy balls.   I remember during his bowl game he had a great TD catch video, but also had a simple drop.   Maybe his concentration can improve.

ANother game is his UNC game where he had his best game but also dropped a sure TD. Link.

Carlton Mitchell also suffered from some drops and caught the ball with his body in college but he doesn't go get the ball at it's highest point like Hill does. Stephen Hill can make some crazy good catches video. Also this one: video. I also think Hill is a better athlete than Mitchell. Hill set a state high school long jump record which indicates explosion, and he he played basketball.

2012 - the year we didn't get RGIII but landed John Hughes!

28 catches... for over 800 yards, right? In an offense that rarely throws. He's done a lot more at the Combine than run fast, too. Won't be shocked if he sneaks into 1.

Re: Stephen Hill???

Without a doubt, he is sending teams back into the film room. Although, the game tape for GT is hard to evaluate as it pertains to their wide outs. You do get an idea whether they are willing to block downfield. But, there just are not alot of balls in the air in their offense. Figuring out whether they can catch, adjust, high point and so on is a challenge.

That said, Hill projects well from size/speed standpoint. He had as impressive a Combine as anyone so far. I don't care who you evaluate. When you have a 6' 4" 215 WO running a legit 4.3 forty and catching everything in drills, you have to consider him, if your offense is crying for a deep threat. Is he a project? Absolutely. Guys with his skill set do not grow on trees.

I don't know if he can climb into the latter stages of the first round, but he has probably solidified a high second pick by someone.
