Re: Pro Day Schedule

The second pro day for Arizona State is over and the reports for Brock Osweiler have been positive.

Scouts said the junior passer looked good today and was accurate on most of his throws. Osweiler, who possesses one of the strongest arms at the quarterback position, did not have receivers reaching for passes.

Big arm, great size, moves well, accurate,  excellent against air...

OMG, If MIA sneaks ahead of us for Tanny at #3, we should pick this guy at 4! Thes guys are too rare to pass up.

That's what's up!!!

He's going to be in play at 37....or 22.  Yes. Sir.

I know you're being sarcastic, but he has a very accurate arm.  It's OK to admit being wrong about the guy....

Osweiler sliding into the back end of Rd. 1 would be of little shock to most.

Honestly, I see very little difference in his pro potential compared to anyone out there unsigned, not named Luck.

It seems that those "in the know", yourself included, wouldn't be shocked at all to see him picked in the last part of the first round. Most of the armchair GM's will have their heads explode if this happened.

Josh Freeman went 17th on potential and a great personality. Osweiler has more tools and much better film than Freeman had. In a vacuum, if both RG3 and Brock Osweiler hit their potential, Osweiler will be head and shoulders above RG3.

The problem is that a lot of people didn't watch Osweiler play. When he's feeling it you'd be hard pressed to find a better college quarterback. His release is a bit awkward but his height renders it inconsequential and it only helps him get rid of the ball faster.

My favorite thing about him is his short game accuracy. Usually guys with huge arms over-think hitches, slants, quick routes (see Derek Anderson), but Osweiler has the capability to take something off of the ball on these throws. He was a master of hitting his running backs in stride on no look swing routes.....if you've ever played QB, that's one of the most difficult throws to make.

I could go on and on, but there really isn't anything damning about Osweiler, and his potential is limitless. It's just a matter of whether a team thinks they can harness that. I wasn't in on his interviews, but I'm confident that there is at least one NFL team willing to take the chance.

Michael Floyd looks like Top 10 pick at Notre Dame Pro Day

Posted by Michael David Smith on April 3, 2012, 6:40 PM EDT

Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd made the most of his opportunity to work out for NFL scouts today.

At Notre Dame’s Pro Day, Floyd put on a performance that firmly establishes him as the No. 2 receiver in this year’s NFL draft, just behind Oklahoma State’s Justin Blackmon. NFL Network’s Mike Mayock, who saw plenty of Floyd while calling Notre Dame games on NBC, liked what he saw on the field and liked what he saw at Notre Dame’s practice facility today.

“Michael Floyd, to me, had an excellent workout,” Mayock said on Path to the Draft.

“What you get with Michael Floyd, you get a 6-foot-3, 220-pound wide receiver who gets tremendous breaks in and out. His explosion off the line of scrimmage is exceptional — I would compare it to Blackmon.”

Most projections have Blackmon off the board somewhere in the 3-6 range, and Mayock said he sees Floyd going shortly after that.

“I think the interest should start at No. 7 with Jacksonville, Miami at 8, Carolina at 9, Buffalo at 10,” Mayock said. “Seven through ten there has to be some interest, but in no event can I see him going past the Jets at 16.”

OU's Broyles runs 4.57, solidifies mid-round status

By Jeff Reynolds | NFLDraftScout.com

Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles shouldn't be surprised if he's celebrating April 27 after turning in an effort he's very happy with on Thursday.

Not a first-round prospect because of his size and average speed, Broyles is admittedly quicker than he is fast, a precise route-runner whose quickness in short areas helps him elude tacklers after separating from coverage.

He showed more than adequate speed Thursday at his delayed pro day, clocking at 4.57 seconds in the 40 and a 32 1/2-inch vertical jump at 5-10, 191 pounds.

Broyles = 2nd rounder, potential OROY in '12. Best route runner in the draft. Best hands in the draft. Best producer in the draft.

Re: Pro Day Schedule

Can't imagine he's even close to 100% yet. Even so, good to see him have the guts to perform at less than his best. He is quicker than he is fast, but in the slot next to a guy like Hill on the outside, he'd be perfect for us.

Good for him.

I'd love to end up with him too.  Maybe a guy we move back up into the 3rd for.

RE: Pro Day Schedule

I know that some may view the Broyles injury as a red flag, and I guess rightfully so, but fact is that everyone in the NFL will get injured. Broyles getting back to speed so soon has to show some serious work ethic and mental toughness.

This team really needs a slot WR with the ability to find the soft spot in the zone. Just look at how Amendola flourished with Sam Bradford. Broyles is the best slot in this draft IMO and it may not even be close.
