Please save the analysis that U can break down Weeden's game to 1 thing after 1 week in real games.  There were plenty of other variables including absolutely no running game, a Jr High gameplan, playcalling done by a 7th grader, pressure on every pass play and receivers who couldn't get separation from a defender large enough for light to seap thru.

Since we are saying please. Please don't try to polish that turd because you like a player. Weeds is clueless & overwhelmed no matter what he says. And you want him translating Cicero when he can read see Spot Run?

C mon man.

They have to stick with him but it will take a while. Quite a while apparently.

Oh hey, I still have this account.

I'm with lbs here.  Weeds had a turrible day, but its hard to rightly grade the offense when the defense knows the play before even they do.  Near-zero creativity, trust in your players, and deviation from the Plan and you have a recipe for disaster even before you half-stock the starting O with rookies.  I'll hold off until we get interim coach Chilly / Jauron before I throw Weeds under any buses.

No busses and no thrwing under. That would be as moronic at this point as calling for Colt.

But I believe all or most of the follwoing:

- Weeds isn't some savant the coaching staff is holding back. If he had grasp, the staff would have put it in the game plan. It it looked simplistic, then Weeds as well as the WR's and TR are a factor is why anything seemed overly basic.

- Weeds missed wide-ass open throws, including TD.s That's not on the staff, tghe OL, or Lucy in the sky with diamonds. That's on Weeds.

I expect him to get better. NFW is he that bad long-term. But yesterday he was in aall his butt-ugly sucktacular glory.

The game is too fast and big for him right now.

Re: Philadelphia

#2 I concur, Weeds was again turrible.  #1 though is no way to run a professional franchise.  The time for learning was the preseason, once September hits its go time.  And I'm not even sure if that's the case since this is the same bunk Shurmur pulled out last season and if I remember right has been his MO since he's been calling the plays in St. Louis.

Mistakes or not, you have to give your guys the best shot to win.  With Weeden, T-Rich, and Gordon, Shurmur has the weapons to open things out.  He hasn't.  That's on him, not on the kids.

I want to believe you are better than that take. It's nice forum hot air, but you know better. I know it. You can't simulate any of this.

True, but it wouldn't have hurt to have Weeden to play more in the X season second halves, or even in game 4. Luck and RGIII played more than Weeden.

Just saying, it could have helped his comfort level and the timing with his peoples.

Re: Philadelphia

I can't say he sucked any louder online than I already have.  I'm just saying don't give me the BS that anybody can break that shi'tty excuse for offense down to the QB can't stand up to pressure in his face.

1, that effects every QB and 2 it doesn't remotely explain any of the other variables that have equally if not more effect on the game.

I'm not saying they should start building Weeds bust in Canton because sucking in ur first game leads to that.  I am saying ur clueless and overwhelmed label is way too early.  4 interceptions is never good but 1 was a pass that should have been caught and the other was on a drive with 30 seconds left and the ball was at the Browns 30 and 2 were bad decisions and inexplicable gameplanning and playcalling to split a slot guy wide and have him fight one of the best corners in the game on a 9 route.

Weeds has to be broken of the I'll just let my guy go make a play because right now the other teams guys going to make a play are a helluva lot better than the Browns guys.  But Shurmur and Chili drew up that play not once but twice.  The rookie can't look wide and see combine 40 times and just toss it out there, but the braintrust behind putting a QB in that situation needs a lobotomy.

I survived the 4th worst owner in NFL history. 48-103 (.318). Lowest of any owner that wasn't expansion or WWII

"Just saying, it could have helped his comfort level and the timing with his peoples."

-- If the story is true, John Elway tried to get a snap from the wrong guy in his first game in the NFL. On his way to a QB rating for the season around 59. (Which will mean a climb for Weeden...)

So, this is Weeden's first game of his first season. He has much to learn and do and the staff has much to learn and do regarding him.

He could have gotten better during the pre-season and the team around him could have gotten better.

Didn't TR suck as well?

The fact that the D played so well makes any offensive failures look even worse. The context isn't the best for Weeden in that regard. I'll even bet you mean fans put pressure on the poor little guy.
