Why bother watching anymore?

Why bother watching anymore?

I'm not gonna cut tail and run, but I had a bad feeling about this game after they beat Denver.

You just KNEW it was going to happen.

I saw the very first play of the game, then left. (15 yard pass to left flat wiped out by penalty). And I knew it was a Ratty SB.

Got work done and got to the Shrine! :)

The feeling I got from this is this, regardless of who won tonight:

The Browns are miles away from contending, regardless of who won the game tonight. It feels like January 1991--after we went 3-13 in the 1990 season under Bud Carson, we got to see the Giants and Bills play at such a ferocious level in the Gulf War Super Bowl. Luckily, under Head Coach Bill Belichick, he improved the team to a 11-5 record by 1994; and, if not for the move, could have had a Browns-49ers Super Bowl in the '95 season.

We have a long ways to go. The only redeeming fact about a Rats SB win is that we know know what we have to do to beat the best. We are due to beat them...it has been 6 seasons. Even with Pitt we were able to beat them in 6 seasons. These Browns have been so horrible for so long we don't even know what a 6-10 to 9-7 team feels like.

At least '90 was sandwiched between two fair to good years.

All I know is it's gonna be awesome having a shot at signing Flacco as a UFA. ;)

Stabba Killah Man going out as an invisible on field jewry ramora is pretty funny. Worst LBer on the field. Whose gonna die tonite?

Refs let the DBs hammer the WRs all night but that was a brutal non call. Still, Flacco got creamed oob earlier.

How is Phil Simms SB color commentator? Turrble.

Great game tho.

Miles away from contending? lol! The Browns can contend when ever the NFL wants them to contend. This is half sports/ half entertainment. Gets some real leadership and watch. I doubt Randy got alot of favors from the NFL being as non-caring as he was.

Re: Why bother watching anymore?

Niners got hosed. That DB had both arms wrapped around Crabtree while the ball was in the air. You could see both his hands on Crabtree's back as he was bear-hugging him. It was blatently obvious holding, but the ref was afraid to make the call and basically give the 49ers the game with a first down on the 1-yard line. No ref ever wants to decide who wins and loses with a penalty flag, so he just choked on his whistle.

The announcers were pathetic. They're not allowed to question the refs calls so they made lame remarks about how "they were both pushing each other". Right. Crabtree was wrapped up and trying to break his arms loose to reach for the ball.

Flacco will be franchised if they can't reach a contract agreement. They won't let him walk as a free agent, not a Super Bowl MVP in his prime. He has them over a barrel. Hopefully they'll have to pay him so much that they can't afford some of the veterans they have now.

Hard to say if the Browns are miles or light years from contention given so many unknowns. We have no idea whether Chud will be a great, good, mediocre, or crappy head coach. Weeden is still unknown. The head coach and the QB are two people most important to a team's success and we don't know what we've got there.

Also, with Lombardi in the mix on player selection, that's another unknown. This is the guy that gave us Craig Powell for Eric Metcalf.

I think I know 2 things:

1. The Browns losr RRS games on lamer calls in similar situations.

2. IDK abut the "catchability" of the ball. were it closer i think they make the call. But D holding or illega; contact seemed a no-brainer.

Sucks to be you, 9 er fan, but the day Modell died is the day I got a whole lot less invested in hating Bmore.

Nice job Ding up the spread option BTW. Good old assignment football. Haven't seen a take on that.

It is what it is. The Ravens played a near flawless game. The Niners not so much. Jim Harbaugh could stand to spend more time on basic team competence and first and goal gameplans than on picking which piece of wardrobe to chuck down the sideline.

Still some value to being a vet team in a big game. When the lead crumbled they didn't freak out.

The 4th down non-call for interference against Roddy White in the NFC Championship was every bit as bad.  Niners made it to the bowl on a blown call, and lost the bowl on a blown call.  Sometimes you get crap like that, for example, the Steelers/Seahawks bowl was a total waste of time as well.

The last three calls were questionable at best. Gore and Vernon don't tough the ball at money time, not sure I can understand it?
