I don't know that Weeden will be here to compete. If they think Weeden will take too long to develop that his age is problematic, why go there?  Weeden is a different QB than Smith as far as ability to go vertical. It would make getting acclimated to the offense as it harder to learn if the offense must change character with each QB.

With Weeden and DA there will be a commitment to a vertical offense because both can do it.  Same offense, same tendencies with both QBs. DA would be a good plan B if Weeden doesn't have it. In this scenario the Browns need more proof about Weeden but lean toward his being okay in a year (or two...tops).
