Maybe a better way of phrasing my views of the Bengals is that they are no longer the laughing stock of the league. They are competitive now, not the butt of jokes, and really have won recently with a major roster overhaul. I credit Lewis with these accomplishments above another.

I can't consider the PATs season an anomaly when they won 3 in 4 years. A surprise, sure. Yet, the point is BB, bad reputation and all, built a winner. And since becoming a winner, his reputation has done a complete reversal. He's Teflon now. He can cheat, cut guys the day of the SB, blackball Mangini, fleece former loyal coaches in trades, and still stiff the local media, but he's BB and now players take less money to stay on the team, FAs jump at the opportunity if offered, and former asst coaches come back. All of this is because of one thing - he wins. Haslam and Banner have expressed to all at every chance that they understand this. Talk is cheap, but relieving Holmgren, Heckert, and Shurmur sent a pretty clear message that they weren't settling on the status quo.
