Great first round matchup (MSU sucks)

Great first round matchup (MSU sucks)

Terribly tough bracket after that.

We got kenpom's #1 as our 2 seed (Memphis), his #3 as our 1 seed (UConn), and his #14 as our 5 seed (Purdue). Add in Missouri (#10) as our 3, BYU (18) as our 8 and Marquette (20) as our 6, and that's 6 of the top 20 teams in the country in our bracket, not including us (16).

The only real consolation is that BYU could very realistically beat UConn and make the top half of the bracket wide open, but I do not like facing Purdue in round 2.

That said, MSU is going to be cake. I love that matchup. We will win at least one, and pretty easily.

I agree with everything except BYU having a realistic chance at beating UCONN in the 2nd round.

Agreed, MSU sucks.

Northern Iowa over Purdue is one of my 2 12-5 upsets. (WKU over Illinois is the other. F the Big 10.)

UW will play UConn and it will be epic.

DNC, I'm really glad to hear your take on it and hope you are right. I just saw MSU and they looked good, good enough to present us with some real problems. I think Purdue is tough, but for some reason fear MSU more.

This bracket also got the 5th #1 seed in Memphis. Haven't seen much of Mizzou. I agree that this is the toughest bracket indeed. Marquette's status seemed to have been discounted due to a key injury.

I live in suburban Memphis on the MS side of the state line. One of my roommates attended one year at MSU. My boss went to MSU. Two of my roommates graduated from Ole Miss. I guarantee you I've watched more SEC basketball than anyone on this forum, and certainly more MSU games than anyone.

We got this.

Hopefully your team will think the same way about MSU that you do.

Chances are that if the team has seen you play it was just today. I've watched you play all year.

In all seriousness, this should be a good game. If Swat gets in foul trouble early MSU will have a hard time against you

Re: Great first round matchup (MSU sucks)

Truth is we could lose any game or win any all the way up to the NC game. I like our chances against just about anyone.

I'd be happy with 1-2 wins, ecstatic with 3 or more.

I'll definitely feel disappointed if we lose in round one.

Oh yeah? Well I live in Texas and have watched MSU games

and feel like we have a shot against anyone if we play up to our potential. I really like our team and think we are peaking at the right time. I know we are in for a real fight....for one we are going to be playing in front of 90% Husky fans and secondly we are playing a top team from one of the top conferences.

Varnado will be Varnado, but if our other boys get hot from behind the line we stand an excellent chance. The road games really haven't bothered our team much. I know Washington will be heavy favorites, but I still think we have a chance in this one.

>>> The only real consolation is that BYU could very realistically beat UConn.

STRONGLY disagree.

>>> I do not like facing Purdue in round 2.

The Boilers are a tough matchup for UW. But as long as UW can dictate tempo, it's a perfectly winnable game. Put Gant/Holiday on Hummel, Brockman on Johnson, and make their guards beat us.

>>> That said, MSU is going to be cake.

I think UW wins, but if the offensive problems continue, no game in our bracket will be "cake."

Your team is seriously worried about beating MSU, and i'd worry too if I were you. I've watched the style of basketball that your conference plays all year long, and it looks to me that you are going to have a full plate. MSU wins by double-digits...

Re: Great first round matchup (MSU sucks)

I love your enthusiasm, but be careful here. MSU as a #13 seed is a total joke. They've got the #1 shot blocker in the country with a 7'4" wingspan and are overall tough defensively. They are peaking at the right time, and are full of confidence. Can we beat them? Absolutely! But the team that recently beat Stanford and lost to Arizona State will not get the job done. If JD continues his shooting slump, and we have no consistent defensive intensity, MSU could walk away with this game. Be optimistic, but be concerned.
