DGB on Campus

It's been confirmed DGB is on campus visiting with coaches. Does anyone know if he could play right away?

TheFootballBrainiacs @ TheFbBrainiacs 8m

Carey Murdock ( @ CareyWWLS) ( @ SoonerScoop) reporting that star WR, Dorial Green-Beckham is on campus right now.

If anybody can get him straightened out it would be Stoops.   Man, this seems like a high risk though.

Bring him. He will either behave and help us win a natty or stoops will send him packing in a hurry.

He would have to get a waiver from NCAA.  If not, RS for 14'

He was kicked off a team. He can play for another school whenever he wants. I don't think there's anything that stops him from playing this year.

...and I couldn't imagine the NCAA granting that waiver, nor should they, imo.

I am a person who believes in second chances. So I hope he succeeds at this chance, if he gets it.

Re: DGB on Campus

i dont see him sitting out a year and then playing...dont think he has the patience or temperament for it. all i think he cares about is getting to the league asap.
but if he comes, i'll trust Stoops and will cheer for him.

hate to hear this. He is not the kind of kid that should be getting "more chances" imo. KId is a bad apple, period.

Him and Mayfield would make a hell of a scout team duo...would be really good for our D to go against every week

I agree that they probably won't, but just when I think the NCAA will or won't do something, they always seem to find a way to be completely confusing and be inconsistent, so not only will they probably let him play this year, they'll probably give him an additional 6 years of eligibility biggrin

Jnevel, or anyone who knows, I heard that there was a guy who got kicked off maybe Georgia's team and now he's transferring to Auburn... The thing I read indicated that he would be eligible to play right away.  Do you know anything about this, and if it's true, how can that be the case with lots of similarities to this situation?

Re: DGB on Campus

I don't see this as a big risk. We have a strong locker room and you know Stoops will keep him on a short leash, if he screws up he's gone simple as that
Fins to the Left, Bottoms up, & Horns Down!!!

Re: DGB on Campus

He was kicked off a team, he can enroll and walk on anywhere he wants. There's no transfer guidelines for that. He is eligible as a walk on.

I am pretty sure he has had a second and third chance already.

Re: DGB on Campus

Do you really believe he only had one chance at Mizzou?

I get it that you are trying to make it sound better that it really is, but if I had to guess, I'd say he had about 5 chances there before they kicked him out.

What you are really advocating is that DGB be allowed to have his 6th or 7th chance.

I would not be unhappy if Stoops said no to the kid, but I also trust Bobs judgment. If he brings DGB in with the idea that one mistake and your done, I can live with it.

But let's not sugar coat it and say this is DGBs 2nd chance.

Side note: I wonder why DGB would want to come to OU knowing that DW was sent packing? DGB should know that this staff doesn't play around.

Re: DGB on Campus

I don't believe he would be on campus unless OU has done some homework. I mean, they would/should have already done some recon with administration, coaches, team to gauge, not get, their feedback. Sure, he has all the right to be on campus for a visit, but we all know why he is there so this has to have been planned/cleared. I too am torn......we all know he is a one and done at this point.....RS is not an option for him....so what Stoops and Co. have to weigh is the pro and cons about having him come in for the year.

Pro: Legitimate threat at WR, Extends the field for TK, will take heat off of new backfield
Con: Past history, can he be a "teammate" for the one year, affect on other young WR's (that is OUr future)

Pulled over on way back to Norman. Catching up on DGB. Beckham on campus and a recruitable athlete. So he can't meet with OU coaches.

According to an OU spokesman, Bob Stoops and Jay Norvell are both out of town on vacation right now. #Sooners

Pulled over again. DGB can meet with coaches at OU of he's signed a non-binding aid agreement. It's different than a NLI.
