Another one in the obits today.  Bob Kelso (not Kalsu) out of Ada one year ahead of Warmack in 1964.  Good friend, retired IRS agent for several years.  Worked with him a lot, very honorable guy.  Smallish fullback, didn't play much, but was there in the pit every day.

The 1975 OU team went to the Orange Bowl that year. Eight players from that Orange Bowl roster have passed away. That's unbelieveable. R.I.P. to Jaime and the others.

Joe McReynolds
Sammy Jack Claphan
Jody Farthing
Jaime Melendez
Lee Roy Selman
Mike Babb
Daryl Hunt
Jerry Anderson

Prayers for the Melendez family.

I'll always remember a game I was at in 1976 @ Iowa st...which turned out to be real close most of the game....offense seemed to be sputtering most of the time.  I think Blevins was starting QB.

Sometime in the 2nd half Horace Ivory shot through the middle and ran directly into Melendez, who basically grabbed him and tossed him foward....which I think caused Iowa st.would be tacklers to miss and Ivory ran about 60 yds for the game turning TD.

well done #60!

I used to play cutthroat raquetball with Jaime and Chez Evans.  Those two guys were HUGE.  Had to run around them ... and never thought of slapping one into their hamstrings to get their attention ... my life mattered too much to me.

I really enjoyed Jaime, and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I had classes with both Lee Roy and Sammy Jack.

IIRC, SJ was a Native, played OT, and played for the Chargers.  Died at only 45.  Really good guy.

Everyone knows about Lee Roy.  Academic AA, arguably the best Sooner ever, and an even better person.  Lots of sports fields around Tampa area named for his charity.

Barry Switzer has seen a lot of grief when it came to his former players. Mildren was not technicaly his,but Barry recruited him.
