SEC SPEED? BIG 12 SPEED IS THE WORD

Top 5 fastest so far are B12 and former B12 players. where is all that SEC speed today?

Kenny Stills surprised me, I thought 4.4 would be his time. way to go Kenny.

Lane Johnson you go Boy!

Like I have said before, OU in particular stacks up with any SEC team in terms of speed. OU players conistently perform extremely well in the 40, explosion and agility drills.

OL/DL is the difference:

Big 12 OL invited to combine: 3
SEC OL invited to combine: 11

Big 12 DL invited: 3
SEC DL invited: 16

Big 12 OL/DL: 6
SEC OL/DL: 27

Granted, there are more teams in the SEC, but their quality sets them apart, IMO. Big 12 may have two 1st round picks from the OL/DL, SEC could have as many as eight.

This.  OL/DL is the difference between the SEC and everyone else.  The SEC will have a bunch of OL/DL drafted in the first round and likely have about half of the first round picks from the SEC.

That said, Tennessee's Hunter and Patterson put up 4.4 forty times.  One is 6'2 215 and the other is 6'4 200.    Those aren't bad times and both will be two of the highest drafted WR's.

Too bad its not track and field... We can have all the bells a whistles in the skilled position but the"football game" is won upfront OL/DL

Goodwin can really run fast... haha...
B12 should be great at the WR position considering B12 is weak defensively.

Knile Davis the 227lb RB from Arkansas ran a 4.3 forty. Also put up 31 reps. Too bad injuries have followed him around.

Davis' 4.37 at 5'10 227lbs is ridiculous. He also did 31 bench reps.

Sure the sec has the most lineman, the south has some of the biggest athletes around. We have to be impressed by what Kenny Stills put up in the 40, and he was right there for WR in the bench press.  Lane has been tearing it up, he has been mentioned as much as any player out there.

For the life of me, I still cannot understand why so many "Sooner" fans are amazed that Stills ran in the 4.3s.  He has been running 4.3s since HS.

I'd been upset if Stills didn't run in the 4.3s. On the out side he was deadly running the post

For Me it's a surprise because I have heard the numbers since he arrived, but guys with that speed we expect to look like Percy Harvin, Jeremy Maclin, or Desean Jackson, those guys run away from people. But he was a great sooner.

Broyles did not have that type of speed, but he had a knack for getting open.

Harvin and Jackson are both faster.  All three are much much better in the open field as slot receiver types.  Stills has shown plenty of run away from people and run past people ability at OU.  Just not much of a make you miss type.

Broyles has as much make you miss ability as any of those guys listed and has an uncanny ability to find space to get open.

People overhype SEC speed, The Big 12 is a very good league full of great players so this is no shock to me.
