Another quality hire! Really pumped about these last 2 hires. Hopefully Bob will go three for three in quality hires.

No disrespect, but I don't think I have ever seen a Sooner fan misspell the King's name Obviously Soonermans post was laced with sarcasm but I'm pretty sure that he spelled it that way because he really can't spell.

Re: Jerry Montgomery to Oklahoma
Emig: 33-yr-old Montgomery would become youngest # Sooners coach (Josh Heupel is 34). Fresh, new blood (and recruiting style) indeed.

When asked about the Sooners recent coaching hires, Mack Brown made the following statement, "Dammit, that Bob Stoops and his band-of-gypsies are going to be the death of me"!!

Is a troll calling someone else a troll like a double negative? And yes it was sarcasm. You can spin it anyway you like but pretty much everyone who reads this board knows about your agenda. Anyway enough of that. This is a great thread and doesnt need to be ruined.

Re: Jerry Montgomery to Oklahoma
Contract details weren’t available at press time, but sources indicate that Michigan offered a competitive compensation package to Montgomery, but ultimately he felt the opportunity at Oklahoma was clearly one he couldn’t pass up. Uh, yup...a step down alright. LOL The cat looks the part, too. I think this is going to be a great hire. With Coach Bedenbaugh and now Coach Montgomery, obviOUsly Coach Stoops didn't feel 10-3 and a shared conference title was good enOUgh, either. He saw the need for more firepower recruiting and putting tougher lineplay on the field as the key. BOOMER!!! Coach Montgomery!! Welcome to the Sooner Nation!!

Don't forget, getting Schnellenberger probably looked pretty nifty at the time, too. (Just to be clear, I don't think it's out of the question in a couple years, but I've thought before that all signs pointed to the ball starting to roll for us and been mostly wrong.)

Trotter: Jerry Montgomery and Bill Bedenbaugh have been heavy hitters recruiting the trenches. Stoops getting two closers on his staff.
