Re: Lane Johnson Combine

4.72!

If he has decent hands would be a hell of a Tight End.

Re: Lane Johnson Combine

Lane would make a heck of an 'eligible tackle' in the red zone IMO, (for extra blocking as well as a pass receiver if he doesen't start in his rookie year).

Lane had a 34" vertical according to the NFL site.

RE: Lane Johnson Combine

"Oklahoma offensive tackle Lane Johnson ran the second-fastest 40 for an offensive lineman, at 4.72 seconds, but he ran the fastest 10-yard split, at 1.61 seconds. So Johnson actually got from the starting line and to the 10-yard line three-hundredths of a second faster than Armstead."

1.61 is like Tommie Harris freakishness.

Re: Lane Johnson Combine

I know he will play OT, but he get his weight to 280 lbs he would have a sub 4.7 forty, right now his numbers are good enough to play TE.

Offical:  Armstead:  4.71

Doubtful, Johnsons unoffical was 4.75 and its very rare and i cant remember it ever happening that the offical is faster then the unoffical so it had to have been a typo

Did Lane dominate last yr?
I just kept reading our OL needs to be more dominant.

How does Lane compare coming out of OU to Trent, Jamaal or Loadholt...

Athletically he compares to Williams, which is elite. Production wise he is not even in the same ballpark as any of them, especially in terms of run blocking.

Re: Lane Johnson Combine

^^this. He is athletically gifted, but this is the area where i think his lack of experience showed. Not great tech at run blocking, had trouble shifting a dl's momentum when not shooting back off the line. I suspect he will do well at the next level, and he was a great sooner, but not a great run blocker in college.

He wasn't as good as any of those guys. But he kept improving. Maybe if he had another year he could have been the best.

Re: Lane Johnson Combine

Lane had a 9'10" standing broad jump and it looks like he beat all the other OL's. Three TEs beat him however, but they weighed a lot less. Armstead finished 14th in the broad jump but his vertical leap was 34 1/2 inches, (1/2 inch better than Lane). For the work out warrior award for OL's, Armstead beat Lane in 3 out of the 4 events big testing events.

Armstead 40 47.1
Lane 40 4.72

Armstead lifting 31 reps
Lane lifting 28 reps

Verticle leap Armstead 34 1/2 inches
Verticle leap Lane 34 inches

Broad jump Lane 9'10"
Broad jump Armstead 9'4"

Re: Lane Johnson Combine

Chargers had to like Lane Johnson effort

By Bill Williamson | Feb 23, 2013 2 PMINDIANAPOLIS -- Lane Johnson did nothing Saturday to keep his name out of the mix to be the San Diego Chargers’ selection with the No. 11 overall draft pick. As expected, the Oklahoma left tackle was blazing fast in the 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine. Johnson, a 6-foot-6, 303-pound former quarterback, ran a 4.72 40-yard dash. It was the second-fastest time for an offensive lineman Saturday behind a 4.71 posting by Terron Armstead of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The previous combine record by an offensive lineman was 4.84.

Let me ask you a question. Does being that stupid give you head aches?
