He started half the season for the Chiefs.

Whitfield is high on him. Mayock had him in his list of top 5 QBs entering the combine.

Re: NFL Combine

The throws landry can make are jaw dropping. Whitfield also has incentive here, since Whitfield coached him.

However, I don;t seem him before the 2nd or 3rd round- where I think a team will take him. Not a bad thing IMO, I'm not sure landry should go to a team in a rebuilding phase.

RE: NFL Combine

How could an OU kid be stronger than an Alabama o line men? What???

Anyways I know the bench don't mean squat but seriously all we ever hear is how big and powerful Alabamas o linemen are...

Fwiw I benched 225 23 times in college, so I guess I beat fluker also.

I believe Bama's S&C coach is a disciple of CMoffitt and I've heard CCochran mention Olympic Lifter Shane Hamman...meaning they probably make their Olympic lifts and technique the foundation of their S&C program. So Fluker might not be great at the bench but may be very strong and technically sound when it comes to cleans or snatches. The guy can definately move guys.

I actually wasn't that impressed with fluker. Slow feet. Not a bad prospect by any means, but I would hate my team to pick him

I didn't watch him enough to say definitively and I do remember their line giving up some sacks early in the season. But from what I saw later in the season in the LSU, TAMU and Notre Dame game he seemed to protect well and run block well.

RE: NFL Combine

Yeah I agree, I just wanted to highlight how lane Johnson out benched the Alabama kid. I know the bench isn't a clear indicator of strength.

You're right...Lane is doing great! And his accomplishments may end up being a great recruiting tool for our coaches.

RE: NFL Combine

"Few groups of quarterbacks have been beaten down with negative reports like this one. There are many projections which point out that none of the quarterbacks is good enough to merit a first-round choice. Based on that premise, some quarterbacks could do well enough in their throwing sessions on Sunday to enhance their stock."

Quote from an ESPN story I thought was interesting.  They are talking about Geno Smith here, but I think the door is open for Landry as well.  I realize most don't think he has the tools to be a 1rst rounder, but I respectfully disagree (especially in light of recent draft history).  It will be interesting to see IF he can squeeze in.

PS:  Still interested in getting this thread or some draft thread pinned until the draft (or at least the combine?) is over.

Re: NFL Combine

well Johnson may not be the fastest OL like some OU fans claim, Armstead ran a 4.65 unoffical at 310

RE: NFL Combine

Well he wasn't. If he couldn't break into the starting line up in KC without an injury then he went where he should of. H eonly played after albert was hurt and then struggled a bit.

I think he could maybe be starting RT. Have my doubts about LT, but he went about where he should of.

Re: NFL Combine

Haha. Nothing like blindly supporting your pupil that paid you. No way he has 1st round film. SCARY to draft him above 2nd. He could be a descent QB or total flop. Either way that isn't first round material.
