Oklahoma's Director of Player Personnel
Do we have one? If not, any names that you know of that are candidates?

Probably Merv Johnson is about as close as we have to a director of player personnel I would assume.

Sounds like a pro position. Bama is the only school I've heard of with one.
Merv is Director of Operations. Pasture position.

Bama and LSU were among the first to create the position, with Bama making the more high profile hire with Steele. Since then several programs have folllowed suit. tOSU, Illinois, Purdue, Washington, Houston, Utah, Michigan, Auburn, Nebraska, Minnesota and I am sure countless others have one so as well.

Interested to see who Mack hires. Wonder if they go big splash like Bama or hire a Texas HS guy. For OU it is too bad David White has moved on. Recruits loved him.

Didn't our Vegas pipeline end about the same time he left? I'm pretty sure he was the coach at LV Gorman (am I thinking of the right guy?) |

Listing for the job opening at Texas was published yesterday. The description of the job seemed like it should be for four people, not one. It also seemed as if a hire would come quickly and the personnel dept. set up pretty fast as the date for the job was March 1.

Bruce Kittle has been mentioned in this capacity, not sure if Director was mentioned but as a member of the player personnel staff.

From the way kids talk about Kittle OU could do much worse. His inexperience in coaching cannot be used against him in that position and that seemed to be his downfall on a few kids he ended up a bridesmaid on.
