Re: Dline Coach
This Joe Salave'a guy might not be such a bad idea for OU. He is young at 37 yrs old, and would be able to attract a lot of those polynesian Dlinemen found on the west coast and also at schools like trinity.

RE: Dline Coach
I'm starting to think they aren't getting their top choices with it taking longer than it took to get Bedenbaugh. I expect them to have somebody by the time spring practice starts though. Although I think Calvin would be a good hire, some fans will go ape shet with the "buddy system" hire and make a big deal of it

We need a guy who can put a good product on the field as well as recruit. I think Young would be a good choice, but IMHO he prob. wouldn't leave Florida for Oklahoma.

Well if Bob Stoops reads this forum, looks like Jerry Montgomery is so far the fan fav.

KhalDrogo wrote: Montgomery looks like a great pick. The 5 star he recruited this year was from Virginia, and he had a 4 star from Maryland, so he clearly has a way with recruits and isn't just a Michigan homer. Also, OU could use a high profile, energetic young black guy on the staff. Seems like he'd be a great hire.

Re: Dline Coach
I'll stick with the old guy, Bumpas. Maybe he can teach the amateur what a real defense coordinator does.

RE: Dline Coach
Depends on whether they really are going to move to a 30 front. In that case it might be better to get someone like Thibs or Nix to coach OLBs but also be able to help D-line recruiting and let BJW take the D-line. He did a great job recruiting this year anyway.
But if we're still running the 43 then pay Coach Brick Haley half a mill+ and name him Dline/Co-defensive coordinator. He'll get sh*t fixed!

RE: Dline Coach
I dont know much about him but Miami folks weren't happy at all with their D-line last year. Not sure if that was coaching or just a lack of talent or some combination.

I also know boosters significantly boost the salaries of the coaches. I would like to see Bob start offsetting with some of his ownm monies, or to radically increase the number of staff that can assist under the rules.

Lots of freshmen and sophomores. Chickillo, their DE, is probably the most talented. But, he was just a sophomore last year.
