As long as his background and grades are good, I dont see how OU would not jump all over this with our lack of DTs. Kid has some solid offers.

We've got 4 DT's coming in for the Fall, we're only hurting for DT during the Spring. The only way I see us taking another DT now is if the guy is someone that could immediately get into the rotation. I like Campbell but he's undersized and I don't see him getting in the rotation next year. Why not just save the ship for 2014?

Are we even sure Russell is coming here? Isn't his LOI null and void since he did not make it in Jan? Plus he has to pass the Texas Juco exit exam, which isn't a given. Not a 100% either direction for at least 2 of them . I use to be Bombs very best customer but now I am a daddy and a husband ! :) LOL

Even with Shipp being gone, Bob and Mike put in as much or more work on Russell then Shipp did. |

hire a coach first, then make any offers. heck, as secretive as this thing is, whoever the new coach is may have someone in mind he can get and bring in.

With our recent lack of success not getting guys here who MAY have grade issues tells me that WITHOUT A DOUBT neither of the grade risk players will be here in the Fall.

But why this guy? I know there's room for another DT. But we shouldn't take one just to take one. We don't just need warm bodies. There's other JUCO DT out there that would be better options if we were going to go after one. Because he would come to OU in a heart beat. Why he likes OU so much is beyond me but he does. The other guys you speak off will need recruiting, and there is no position coach as of now to do it. This guy would come to OU regardless, and he is more than just a warm body. He is a 3 star DT with some pretty good offers. He was down to West Virginia & Kansas State but has not sign yet. If you can get him, then take him. Cant be any worse than Damon Williams or Marquis Anderson. |
