JUCO DTs still available

Went and looked at another recruiting site for JUCO DT rankings and noticed quite a few still unsigned. I dont know what their grade situation is like:

Toby Johnson (doesnt appear we have a shot and might not be able to go next year)
Lauren Jackson (appears to be from the same school as Bester)
Demetrius Campbell (if I recall correctly this is the fella who kept tweeting about wanting an OU offer)
David Washington
Jordan Turner (I believe same school as DD Williams)

Those were the DTs left that were ranked 3 stars or better.

There’s a lot of buzz surrounding JUCO defensive tackle Demetrius Campbell, but the 6’3″ and 285 pound lineman has two schools in mind as his favorites. ESPN reports he’s named Oklahoma and Baylor as his two favorites.

As of now, Campbell has 14 offers from different schools, but not one from either the Sooners or Bears, according to ESPN.

Campbell told ESPN’s Brad Bournival that he wants to go somewhere that he can contribute right away.

‘Both of them only have one defensive tackle or two defensive ends in their 2013 class,’ Campbell said. ‘I could come in and compete right way. I feel like I’m an older guy that brings in that leadership right away. I know how to get in the backfield.’

You can click here to see his Rivals, 247Sports and ESPN profile.

As of now, Baylor has two defensive tackles in its 2013 class. The Bears have Allen’s Byron Bonds and Hutto’s Tanner Thrift.

Would be great if OU could pick up 2 off this list.  They are badly needed, especially if OU is really going to run some 3-4.

Jordan Turner Film

2013 DT Jordan Turner (6’3, 297, 4.8/40) was attending Arizona Western, but chose to sit out this semester and plans to enroll at a university next semester.

New Mexico, Akron, MTSU, Boise St., Texas A&M, Baylor, Memphis, and Kansas St. are showing interest. It’s also possible that he could enroll at a junior college next semester.

Turner prides himself on his quickness off the line of scrimmage. “My get off is the best in the country. I get off the ball faster than anyone,” he said. “I get great penetration and cause havoc in the backfield. On my film, I’m the first one every time moving on the snap. It’s a tremendous advantage for me.”

School location won’t be a problem for Turner. “It doesn’t matter, I’ll play anywhere. It’s not an obstacle for me.”

The number one factor for him during his recruitment will be playing time. “I want to prepare myself for the NFL draft, and the program I feel that will get me ready, that’s where I’ll attend. I feel I can contribute now, but I’m willing to work for my time.”

I wonder if grades were an issue as he went to Coffeyville out of high school and then transferred to W. AZ.  Dude is cat quick for a big bodied guy.  With the current situation with DTs at OU, I'm on the phone to this kid and Kish is on an airplane to go get him.

Didn't say it was recent, only to confirm that this was indeed the guy that was tweeting wanted to be a Sooner.  Looks like he is still available.  Not much for offers.  Turner looks like the better option if the OU staff felt the need, in my uneducated estimation.

Even for the most uneducated,we need bodies on the defense that can tackle.Quickly, time is running out.I don't understand. It seems like there's no since of urgency when in fact we're hurting on that side of the ball.

Re: JUCO DTs still available

Idk how he did this year, but last summer I was told by one of the best JUCO recruitniks out there to keep an eye on Lauren Jackson. He said he was unstoppable his first year.

http://247sports.com/Season/20...amp;Position=DT  Interesting site listing all of the top JC DTs and where they signed or if they are still unsigned.

Doesn't look like Jackson had a 'great' year, but not bad.  Turner's film was from HS but he looked good.  According to the posted article, he sat out this past semester for some reason.  Agree with uno. With the OU defensive line looking like a disaster waiting to happen with only 3 holdovers now, and not being able to count on Russell or Huggins due to grades, Walker has had injury issues, Romar at 265-275 is a bit light not to mention lack of experience. At least a JC player has a little more experience and physical maturity.  The coaches are going to have to put someone out there.  If 1 or 2 of these guys has the grades, they can hold space.

His bench is weak for his size.

Might be old numbers.  HS numbers or something.  Height, weight and 40 there do not match the numbers below there either.
