I think Ricky Dobbs was Navy's QB and they hung with Ohio State until a failed two-point conversion was returned by Ohio State, if my memory is correct. Also take into account South Carolina vs. Navy in which Navy gung tough against another defense filled with superior talent. Even Alabama had trouble with an FCS school (think it was Georgia Southern) and their triple option attack a couple of seasons ago and Alabama won the national championship.

That speed was just killer despite not being as big as some teams. The lbs and DBS rarely missed tackles and once the usafa player was hit, he was down. It was then that I realized that Patterson can coach and adding tcu to the big12 was a good idea.

Go back and look at the defensive statistic for the past ten years. The only team you find that is as or more consistentoly one of the top ranked defensive teams is TCU.
People can throw the 'inferior competition' stuff at me but they were all on the same playing field.
Patterson can flat out coach.

TCU has usually always eaten up AFA's option. The only recent game I can remember AFA being competitive in was in near blizzard conditions in Col Springs a few years ago.
Which is funny, because the one time OU faced AFA, they couldn't stop it at all. BV was freakin' clueless.

I can buy that somewhat, but then I look at the first time Patterson and TCU faced it:
2005 TCU beat AFA 48-10, the same year Patterson beat OU.
We need to be honest with ourselves, the OU defense hasn't been right since 2009, and even that year, they had their bad moments.

I agree with you. Generally, TCU plays very disciplined defense under Patterson. They've been fundamentally sound for awhile now without superior talent, though their talent is better than some may believe.
