Do you think the SEC's national title streak comes to an end?

Do you think the SEC's national title streak comes to an end?

This upcoming season or will a team from the conference capture a national title? Strongest contenders from that conference, IMO are Alabama (13 returning starters [6 offense, 7 defense]), Texas A&M (10 returning starters [6 offense, 4 defense]), and Florida (11 returning starters [6 offense, 5 defense]). A&M is entering the second season under Kevin Sumlin and Florida is entering its third season under Will Muschamp. If you consider the level of success (winning national titles) 2nd and 3rd year head coaches have had at major conference schools over the last decade (Stoops, Tressel, Saban, Meyer), A&M and Florida are likely contenders for the crystal ball.

Strongest challengers, at least entering the season, IMO, are (in no certain order): Stanford (15 returning starters [8 offense, 7 defense]) led by third-year head coach David Shaw, Oregon (15 returning starters [8 offense, 7 defense]) led by first-year head coach Mark Helfrich (steps into a great situation given familiarity of the system, experience returning, schedule), and Ohio State (13 returning starters [9 offense, 4 defense]) led by second-year head coach Urban Meyer.

Is Ohio St. eligible to play for the NCG this year?I wouldn't put anything past Urban Meyers.I think if the are they have a shot.Other than that I think it's SEC's trophy to loose.

They are eligible. Served one-year bowl ban in 2012. The Big Ten looks so weak entering the season and Ohio State is expected to start off in the top 5. They should coast to a conference championship, at the very least.

Doubtful.

I think it is going to be a long run.  The teams that have the same access to talent are poorly coached.....USC, Texas.

I believe UO with Kelly would have given Alabama all they wanted last season with their hurry-up.

RE: Do you think the SEC's national title streak comes to an end

By the time the SEC team gets to the NC they are more than prepared so I NO the streak doesn't end. CUMeyer is still a year or two away. I loved his first class with Spence and Washington but they need one more year. Oregon wasn't able to win it under CKelly so I dont see them winning it first year under a new coach. ND might have an outside chance but I reckon they used up their good fortune last year.

Other big time CFB players outside of the SEC are USC, OU, Texas and short of a miracle I dont see any of us competing.

Only chance is if they beat each other up.

If KSU and Oregon didn't lose they could have faced ND and that would have ended the SEC streak.

The only first year head coach to win a national title since 2000 was Larry Coker at Miami (FL), that I recall. Coker was on Miami's staff prior to taking over the head coaching position. I figured given the situation Helfrich inherits, they have a good shot. Kelly was a nice play caller, though.

That depends. Are the preseason polls going to be taken seriously as they have been the past few years? Is the sec assured a chokehold on the top 10 that seems unfounded?
Will espn continue to push recruits to the "sec" schools, even if they are complete crap football programs?

The other day I actually had an alabama fan have the nerve to say "well if the other team's didn't choke then alabama wouldn;t have gotten the shot." I'm excited for a committee rather than malleable coaches and the harris poll.

What I was thinking as well. LSU went to the natty with 2 losses. If the other major conferences only have 1 loss or none then the bcs will pair them. After next year it will be diff though because of the playoff

It appears that way. I think Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina will all start the season inside the top 10, with LSU close but just outside.

The team with the best combination of offensive and defensive linemen entering the season, IMO, is Stanford. Stanford should have another salty running game, despite the loss of Stepfan Taylor at running back, as well as another strong front seven defensively. It'll be interesting to see how they replace their duo at tight end in Zach Ertz and Levine Toilolo. It may be with Ryan Hewitt, he was more of an H-Back guy.

Yes watch out for Ohio State, Stanford or Michigan. All going to be really strong next year.

My money is on Ohio State though. Ohio State vs Texas A&M in the NC

I'll believe it when i see it. A&m loses their senior center, the best lt in the draft, their go to guy on all key downs and the guy that adjusted to johnny's scrambling to grab balls, and their best pash rusher. I fail to have any confidence in them winning anything meaningful this season.

Ohio state could do it. Looked the part of jekyll and hyde last year though.

This is how I feel, unfortunately. College football is cyclical, as we all know, but it just seems like there's no end to teams from that conference winning the national championship every season. Given how high they start in the preseason and media backing annually. I'd like to see a team from another conference (preferably Oklahoma) win the thing instead.

Unfortunately, aggy only plays two games against tough opponants next year...Bama at aggy and LSU on the road.  They'll still find some way to be aggy and even tho they'll beat Bama in CS, Bama will still play in the NC against Ohio State.

THe run of the SEC auto bid is soon to be over as the SEC, SEC, SEC is starting to get a huge backlash of people who are tired of hearing about it.  Remember, this is America where we love to put our heroes on the pedestal, but enjoy watching them fall off of it even more.
