Gaddis was special and would have been in the same sentence with Vessels, Clendon Thomas, Owens, Pruitt, little Joe, Billy Sims, the unbelievable Marcus Dupree and, of course AD. But, it wasn't meant to be, I guess. Man, he was special, though. OU has had the stable of RBs, haven't they? My, my, my; not to mention Prentice Gautt, big Jim Grisham, Joe Don Looney (who had too much Dupree in him or vice versa), Joe Wylie, Elvis Peacock (fabulous name), Kenny King, Stanley Wilson and on it goes. Sorry, went down memory lane there for a minute. Anyhow, if this kid is compared to Gaddis, I want to see him!!

AD is a rare talent. Probably won't see that at OU for a long time if ever.
Not saying Ross can't be REALLY special but AD is talked about as "one of the best EVER".
Those guys don't come around that often. Never said anything about his game being similar to Adrian Peterson. I have no clue how good he is or will be. The numbers is what im responding to. 6'2 217 pounds, 36 inch vert & low 4.4's in the 40. Very similar to Adrian Peterson

Most people do not realize that Gaddis had become the favorite for the Heisman Trophy before his injury. OU beat USC out for his comit.

AD was and IS rare, for sure, but I thought Pruitt was the best ever at one time, Washington was the best ever at one time, Sims was the best ever at one time and Dupree was the best ever at one time (still is the best I've ever seen-include all comers) and Gaddis "could have been the best ever at one time. So, there are a lot of best Evers; but you have to consider that OU has had so many great RBs that its a "generational thing". Yep, AD IS special but if Ross has AD "like numbers", that's great. We'll see if he becomes the next "best ever".

Re: Cale Gundy on KREF talking coaching changes
Ross has me giddy. But now the question becomes if he is clearly the best how many carries does he get vs 2 good seniors. I fully believe in best player plays, but Williams and clay are pretty good also. Good problem to have if Ross is the real deal.

Re: Cale Gundy on KREF talking coaching changes
Why did he not play this year? He may be good in a few years, but I'm not sure expect much from him in 2013.
Comparing Ross and Ford in high school I would take Ford. I'm not trying to put down Ross at all. He may be great.

Anyone that would argue that GAddis was one of the greatest RB to done a Sooners uniform doesn't know OU football. We had some all world RB's and at his prime he was a top 5 guy for sure. echo101 wrote: Some will argue but I would rank Gaddis up there as one of OU's best ever in terms of what he was and could have been. Gaddis was really, really good before he blew his knee. I was at the Texas game when it happened. It looked like he was having a career game and then poof. I don't think he even got hit on the play, if I remember right. He was a great player. --------------------------------------------- Sorry, but Mike Gaddis was special after he got hurt, rushing for over 1300 yards as a senior. That's The 8th best season rushing in OU history. That included a 200 yard performance against OSU. The injury hurt his career stats and maybe cost him a Heisman, but he was still special when he came back.

Re: Cale Gundy on KREF talking coaching changes
Ross may have similar numbers to AD but one part of Ross’s game that is better than AD’s at the same stage is that Ross uses his blockers much better. Ross is a more patient runner at this same stage… Ross can be a very potent weapon for OU if the OL can run block better than it has.
At OU all it takes is the right leadership to put the championship recipe together.

During his freshman year, they said he needed more touches but didn't get any more. Then they said before his sophomore year that he needed more touches, but we didn't see a significant increase. They said it again before this year and I thought to myself, "I'll believe it when I see it but I doubt I'll see it" which is exactly what happened. If what James Hale has said since the end of the season is true, that OU plans to use more of the zone read option with Bell at QB, I actually believe we'll see Millard carry the ball more. I do think Bob wants to put more emphasis on the run game. Are we going to change our identity as a 3 and 4 WR set, pass-happy team? No, but I think we'll see more balance between the run and pass. I think Bob was fascinated by Collin Klein and what KSU did offensively but wants the ability to throw the ball more than KSU did. So, I think we will FINALLY see Millard get about 20 touches per game (10-15 runs, 5-10 passes). Fingers crossed.
My goal in life is to be half as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.

Yes, I did, 4OUnVA....and that was a huge mistake as I was thinking of the best Evers! Man, how could I do that when I'm McDonald25 which was his number? And, by the way, McDonald #25 got ripped off when Paul Hornung won the Heisman because of the Notre Dame worshipping press? THANKS FOR POINTING OUT MY ERROR, 4OU!

Agreed 12233. Every season they talk about how special Millard is and how much he has to be involved in the offense yet every season, Heupel leaves him in the toy box. 12233 wrote:

Millard got 63 touches last year after having 37 in '11. That's a lot of touches for an H/FB.
