Single most important qualification for new assistant coaches

Single most important qualification for new assistant coaches

What do you think is the single most important qualification for selecting the new OU assistant coaches?  The top priority?   For me, the answer is simple:  Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting.
Bob will have to reach out of his personal comfort zone and take a chance:  hire young, ambitious, up and coming coaches who can out recruit anyone. That means young coaches.  This will also improve relations between the coaching staff and the players.  What do you think?

That seems to be the case.

To even be considered you have to have worked for Mike at Arizona, which is good because they did so awesome there.

The ability to identify and evaluate and then sign the right recruits must be a high hiring priority.

When a  staff has a low recruiting bust rate, those teams who normally do very well.

At OU all it takes is the right leadership to put the championship recipe together.

I think recruiting is very important, and even though Bleeding is right that Texas was able to get who they want for so long and still sucked, most teams who are able to get their top targets have not had that same problem. I think the coaching staff needs to be well balanced with great recruiters and great coaches, and the rarer guys who can do both at a really high level.

He's got to be able to coach regardless. The importance of recruiting can be more or less of a draw based on the strengths of other staff members & the same goes for his coaching if a strong recruiter is needed.

And youre basing this on 1 seasons performance?   There has to be more to it than that.

The fact that Texas recruited well and still sucked is not an indictment of great recruits. It appears to have more to do with the failure of the Texas staff to develop their players. Just because UT can't win with great recruits should never be a reason for the OU staff to weaken their recruiting efforts.

Against 5 star talent?  Please....even you are not that dumb.  Give me a coach that is a good recruiter (does not have to be the best), but can also coach that talent once he gets it on campus.  Otherwise, we are UT.  Loaded with 5* losers that have not received a lick of coaching since they signed their Letters of Intent.
