After looking around the 'net, this guy looks like a great choice.  If it weren't for his mottled past with abuse issues, Leon Lett, too.  Did a stint at ULM and then back to the Cowboys as an intern.  Jim Jeffcoat has been mentioned and would also be a great hire.

RE: So you're picking the Dline coach - who do you go after?

I'm surprised how many people suggest a former OU player with no coaching experience. I like former OU players, but with no real experience I'd prefer they learn on the job elsewhere. This DL coaching hire is extremely important and we should find the very best coach and pay whatever necessary, even if Bob needs to defer some of his own salary to the new coach. It's that important. We need a proven, successful DL coach who can recruit elite talent.

If it becomes impossible to do that, then we should target young risers like Bryant and Thibs. We shouldn't trust the DL to former players with no coaching experience. We also need to avoid hiring the next Kish. We need a dynamic coach that brings credibility, that can breathe some life into our recruiting and our coaching staff. Please, No coaches from Arizona, WSU, Colorado, or the unemployment line. This is OU football and we should spare no expense to invest in the greatness of the program.

The former player I suggested has a ton of experience coaching and was considered one of the best at one time. He's been out of coaching for a couple of years but sometimes a little time off is all you need to re-ignite the passion.Plus he has a ton of recruiting experience in Oklahoma and Texas and he is very well liked and respected in Oklahoma.Thats all I'm saying.

I wasn't talking to you and I don't even know which guy you're talking about. I was talking about former players with no coaching experience, so it doesn't sound like I was referring to anything you said. No disrespect intended.
