Ross and Hood are pretty much the same height and size. Hood is more athletic and stronger and Ross is a better ball handler and shooter. They are both SF's, but if anything, I'd say Ross has more 2G skills and Hoods athleticism would allow him to play the 4 as a better rebounder.
--------------------------------------------- So Hood is a better shooter than Q, when Matta said Q was one of the best shooters he has ever coached.

RE: Rodney Hood
When did Matta ever say Q was one of the best shooters he's ever coached? I remember Q's HS coach saying something like that. But I don't remember Matta saying that. I actually think Q has some work to do to shore up his shooting. He puts his feet really close together - it's like a set shot.

Re: Rodney Hood
Take him. We'll be losing DeShaun Thomas after this upcoming season (Thomas will not come back for his senior year). Our lineup looks pretty killer in the 2013-2014 season.
PG - Aaron Craft (Shannon Snott) SG - Lenzelle Smith (incoming JUCO 2-guard who can shoot backing up Smith) Wing - Sam Thompson (LaQuinton Ross) PF - Rodney Hood (Mark Loving) C - Amir Williams (Trey McDonald)
We'll need to get another big guy in the 2013-2014 class. Williams and McDonald are our only two true post guys that season. Need one more.

I don't remember exactly, but I believe it was when Q tweeted after the Minnesota game about PT. Matta said Q had a NBA future and was a great shooter, when asked about the tweet.

Re: Rodney Hood
Would be a killer get. So many bennies on this including maybe keeping Ross around another year if he blows up next year. OSU in the title hunt '13-14 season.

Re: Rodney Hood
How did Ross turn into this mythical amazing player? The guy didn't show anything in the small amount of time he did get, and he wasn't even a super highly ranked player.

He never got a chance to show anything. Some people still can't get that. Matta pretty much redshirted him after the lost time and pretty much admitted it.

That doesn't mean he is this amazing player. If he was Matta would have played him. I hate to agree with Zona, but people shouldn't even begin to compare Hood with Ross. Hood was better in high school where he played on the same AAU team with Ross, he was ranked higher, and he actually showed good talent this year.

RE: Rodney Hood
really, my Zona-opinion comment was deleted? i didn't think i was being that mean, but if it was out of line, i apologize.
anyways, yeah, i don't think most of us are trying to insinuate that Ross is better than Hood. Hood is certainly the more proven player at this point. just that Ross is more known for his shooting and would be more of 2G for us than Hood would be, though both are definitely more 3s than anything.

nomatta- It wasn't all that bad but it's still a personal attack. Basketball and only basketball with no name calling or anything about anybody else. This place goes south quickly so the leash currently has to be short.

RE: Rodney Hood
Even in spite of losing Thomas, most likely, that 2013-14 team would be potentially lethal if they can land Hood. They'd have a core of Craft, Scott, Smith, Thompson, Hood, Ross, Loving, Williams and any other freshmen that enter in that class. That would be a pretty athletic nucleus.

RE: Rodney Hood
Lineup in two years (not counting freshmen and assuming no JD or Jordan S) 1. Craft/Scott 2. Smith/Thompson 3. Ross 4. Hood 5. Williams/McD
Lineup in three years (if no early departures) 1. Scott 2. Smith/Thompson 3. Ross 4. Hood 5. Williams/McD Plus Loving and other sophomores and any freshmen
If we don't get Hood, I really would like for Sibert to stay so that Smith/Thompson/Ross could play the 3 and 4 spots more

Hood makes little sense unless Ross blows up and goes pro.

RE: Rodney Hood
im also wondering about where "the legend of ross" derived from
he maybe played a total of 20 mins all season last yr.....was literally the last player on the bench.....and we are plugging him into the starting lineup next season like he's the second coming of jimmy jackson
sure he has a nice collection of shoes (instagram) but he plays zero defense and he had no part whatsoever in our final four run
