RE: Rodney Hood

This would be a great pickup for anyone. Hood is a very talented player. I think he'd be a great addition to Ohio State if they can land him.

RE: Rodney Hood

on one hand i don't see why he would choose OSU when we have Thompson and Ross already and then Loving in '13. on the other hand Ross could very well end up an early entry and Hood would have to sit out a year anyways and then have three years of eligibility left...so, yeah, who knows.

i would love to get him. he's already proven himself and i think he would fit in great at OSU. i know we were recruiting him heavily before he committed to Miss State.

Anytime you can get a 5* player to transfer you do it. Here is to hoping we land him. Could be a key piece to a 2014 title run.

Assuming Thomas leaves, we'll definitely have a spot open at the 4 in 2013.  Would step into a senior & junior-laden team and have solid chance at a Final Four run.

Re: Rodney Hood

I have heard he is Louisville bound as well / Pitino somehow finished 2nd to MIss st with his original recruiting.

I have not heard that OSU was after him in anyway.  Does anyone have a link to that info?

Would love to have Hood he is a legit player!

I know that Hood and Ross talked about going to the same school back in the day.  I like our chances if Coach Matta wants him.  Go Bucks!!!

I'm not so sure Ross would want that....

he's battling Thompson for a starting spot and minutes.....

if Hood comes, thats just another guy he has to compete against....

I'm not sure Ross would want Hood to come to OSU and potentially take some of his minutes

Re: Rodney Hood

For 1 Hood is a 2/3, Ross is a 3/4. You could see a Thompson, Hood, Ross lineup in 2 years

Second Hood wont play next year and Ross might not be here in 2 years

Re: Rodney Hood

Ross and Hood are pretty much the same height and size. Hood is more athletic and stronger and Ross is a better ball handler and shooter.   They are both SF's, but if anything, I'd say Ross has more 2G skills and Hoods athleticism would allow him to play the 4 as a better rebounder.

Bingo!  They were considering going to the same college at one time, but Ross committed early to the Buckeyes.  Hood would be a Thomas type of PF, or a four guard line up.  The great things is that Ross and Hood are both in the 6'8" range, so you wouldn't have problems matching up on defense.

OSU starting 5

Center.....A. Williams................6'11"       (Shot-Blocker and rebounding duties)
PF...........R. Hood......................6'8"        (Offensive skills and very athletic)
WF...........L. Ross......................6'8"        (Offensive skills and can create)
SG.....Smith/Thompson.............6'4"/6'7"  (Both are athletic and good rebounders)
PG.............Craft..........................6"2"        (Floor leader and becoming a scoring option)

RE: Rodney Hood

I don't think there is ever a problem with too many long athletes. Matta put Turner, Buford, Diebler, and Lighty on the floor together for 30+ minutes per game, and they were all fairly similar in size.

What some people in this thread see as a potential problem I see as versatility, which is something I think Ohio State has lacked in recent years.
