It's kind of an important, life decision. And yes, he is only 16 years old, so a kid indeed. bucknutjake wrote: Why can't kids just pick a day and decide.

Who knows.
Recruits who want to play with their friends ==== grow up. We offered Gresham the same day we offered Knox. We need a true FB. We have a JUCO kid in the '13 class but that's a short-term fix.
BTW, I can't imagine there's any reason we would tell Knox to hold his commitment. We already have 3 committed for '14 and those offers just went out the other day. Our top OL target for '14 is Cameron Robinson from Louisiana. He hasn't picked up an offer yet but supposedly that's because the coach hasn't made it out there yet to make it official. Regardless, I don't see how that would effect Knox at all. How may offers are out there from Texas? My point is some "offers" are for real and others are not. IMO, After Knox make the phone call he all of a sudden doesn't want to commit tonight and wait a couple of days, something tells me his offer was a non comittable offer, of course, it would make it alot more clearer if i knew how may offers are out there to 14' recruits. Or his friend's offer was a non commitable offer and they told him they woudl take him now and his friend later and Knox didn't like the thought of that. He was ready to commit, makes a phone call, and now it's off, its obvious he didn't like what he heard and was told to wait.

He was ready to commit, makes a phone call, and now it's off, its obvious he didn't like what he heard and was told to wait. We have 18 offers out for 2014 (28 out for 2013) and we don't do "non-real" offers which is to say we don't do verbal offers. Every offer we make is in paper and usually delivered by Mack to the kid in his office or by a coach to the kid at school (sometimes through the high school coach or mailed). Either way, once the kid has an offer from us, he can commit whenever he wants unless the coaches have told him his offer has been pulled, which I can assure you has not happened to Knox. The one thing we will do that might cause a delay is Mack will tell a kid not commit if he plans on taking any more visits (in other words, don't commit unless you're committed) and Mack has gone so far as to pull offers for kids that were committed to us because they took a visit behind his back. Mack has said several times that he's talked with kids wanting to commit and told them to stop and think about whether or not that's what they want to do and if not, wait until they're sure. Maybe that happened here, I have absolutely no idea. I said on another thread that you have to take the kid and his Twitter activity with a grain of salt. He's a cut-up and a bit of an attention whore (not a bad thing BTW). Maybe he was planning to announce tonight, maybe not. Maybe he was going to announce but got a call from another school asking him to take a visit. Maybe he's waiting for his parents to sign off. Who knows. Point is, I wouldn't read too much into anything. One day the kid is posting pics of his Ohio State Snuggie and later he's telling a recruiting website Texas is his #1 and he wont play anywhere without Gresham. I'm not saying the kid is lying or in any way doing anything bad. He's just a 16 year old boy enjoying some attention. We, the adults, need to give these kids some slack some time.

That's the ONLY beef i have with this recruit. That's just immature. Other than that...Texas would be a great choice for him and will wish him all the best. As far as twitter, He's originally from OH IO so he just might be a fan of the Buckeyes, no big deal.

I think your looking into it to much. He said in a few days he would do it not like months. Texas was his dream Offer yes grew up watching OSU but Texas with Texas kids are hard to steal. He must know that's where he wants to be to pull it this early. buckwild23 wrote:

Yeah, he may be a bit immature at times, but I think back on how mature I was at 16 and I'll give the kid a break. If he's still doing this at 18, my attitude might change. I've said in other threads that I honestly don't know much about Knox or All Saints but I trust the opinions of some who do and everything I have heard is that Knox is a great, out-going kid who will be a great asset to whatever school he decides to attend.

Or Texas offered his friend who is a fullback and wants to play with his friend at Texas. IF i wanted a tsun's fans opinion on Ohio State Buckeyes recruiting, i'd asked for it.

He should make the decision of going to Texas on his OWN, not if his friend gets an offer from Texas, Ohio State, Alabama, Florida State etc.. It's LAME and pretty silly when you think about it.

Now he's asking "Buckeye Nation" or "Longhorn Nation"....
Someone told him he's from Texas so it should be an easy choice. He responded with "I'm from Ohio and will always be a Buckeye"....
Long way to go. I think this kid is just having fun. If I had people waiting on my every word at 16, I woulda played it up too.

BOTH are great choices...it's a win/win.
BUT.... I doubt Ohio State offers his friend, imo.

twitter.com/meechy77/status/232949995551219712Now congratulating Gresham for committing to UT. Claims they are still going to the same school but is slowing down the process for now. This is really odd considering what happened yesterday when he tried to commit somewhere. Also said he's shutting down his recruiting till after the season.

Re: Demetrius Knox...
The word we're getting is that Knox really was serious about committing but his high school coach asked him to hold off to try and generate more attention for All Saints and some of Knox's teammates. Supposedly the coach wants him to wait until after the season. I guess the idea being that an undeclared Knox will bring in more coaches and media who might just notice some other players and raise the profile of the program as a whole. Not sure of the source of this rumor but it's on Shaggy so it has to be true.
Time will only tell if he was serious about playing college ball with his teammate, since we know where his teammate will be in a couple of years.

How is Texas handing out offers in writing to 2014 kids? Written offers aren't allowed until their senior year. --------------------------------------------- --- coopercougar wrote: buckwild23 wrote:

You may be right. We've never offered anybody this early before. We were shocked last week when we learned offers for '14 were going out. This is very much new territory for us and many of us fans are just trying to catch up.

There was also a rumor floating around that he was OSU bound, but was faking interest in UT in order to get them to take Gresham. I hate to say it, but your rumor sounds much more likely.
