RE: And So It Begins For Penn State
Kind of odd that he would de-commit from a school facing possible NCAA sanctions to commit to a school which has a bowl ban in place for this season and a 15 scholarship reduction.
I read on the PSU board that it had something to do with his family moving south (military family transfer) or something like that.

yes some truth to that Farrel said the same. Military family but I'm guessing current situation didn't help. cwerph wrote: Kind of odd that he would de-commit from a school facing possible NCAA sanctions to commit to a school which has a bowl ban in place for this season and a 15 scholarship reduction.

Re: And So It Begins For Penn State
Huge loss for Penn St. Reallity will start to set in for PSU fans who thought they could just return to football as usual. The bowl ban will not effect Webb.

I read on the PSU board that it had something to do with his family moving south (military family transfer) or something like that. Why would he care about a bowl ban this year? Schollie reductions could help with recruits and sure Lane has used it in his favor. Tell kids they are more special and have an easier chance to get on the field.

RE: And So It Begins For Penn State
Do we take another DT this year? I would like to see some DTs because these position was not recruited well during Tressel's years (Cant remember one DT that Tressel recruited that went to NFL), but we have bigger holes on the OL.
Hope we get that Johnson kid from Penn.

RE: And So It Begins For Penn State
some of the fans I feel bad for....but a majority of them no way. They are the reason Paterno had so much power and unbridled dominance over the entire university. They WERE a big part of the problem. the players - yeah, too bad for them. But I'm sure they get to either finish their studies at PSU or transfer to another program on scholarship. RE: And So It Begins For Penn State
Webb was really the only DT guy we might have wanted from PSU. The also have a good DE prospect, but we seem pretty stocked there now.
Other possible PSU targets could include TE Breneman, WR Fuller and of course OT Johnson. I really don't think there is any others we would consider.

A OSU fan asked farrel if osu has a shot he said if he flipped WVU and Pitt would get first crack. But anything is possible seems like a home team kid. BenArazi4 wrote: We got a shot with Dorian Johnson?

This is odd. I was under the impression this wasn't a football issue.

Re: And So It Begins For Penn State
While I do think death penalty is warranted, I don't really take pleasure in seeing PSU's demise, I also don't think PSU's business as usual attitude is appropriate either.
also, without heavy sanctions, PSU is fine as long as hackenburg stays committed, he may be the top QB

narfa wrote: This is odd. I was under the impression this wasn't a football issue. Exactly. A coaching staff, AD, university president and other top university officials conspiring to protect the football program from the actions of a known pedophile becoming public has nothing to do with football. We all know the football program wouldn't suffer if this information would become public knowledge. After all, the guilty parties would likely do the same thing if this involved a parking attendant.
Arguing that a proposition is true because belief in it has good consequences, or that it is false because belief in it has bad consequences is often an irrelevancy.

Hope we get that Johnson kid from Penn. Quinn Pitcock (3rd round, 2007, Colts). Sad, but true.

Re: And So It Begins For Penn State
It will be interesting to see what happens after the NCAA lowers the boom on PSU on Monday morning. They might lose everything, not just a few recruits, but coaches, current players, etc. We'll see tomorrow.
