Re: 2010 Depth Chart

Good breakdown Robot.

It looks like we will be filling the WR, DT, and LB needs for sure in the 09 class. Ohio is stacked with LB and there is about 2-3 top WR's in the state as well. DT also has Hall and Simon who could both be 5* guys. PA also has a few big time WR's.

Re: 2010 Depth Chart

So we take care of QB with Pryor.  FB will probably remain a "NEED."  Thomas or Fuller or Floyd can take care of the WR "NEED."  Jenkins for the G "NEED."  Mobley or Thompson for the DT "NEED."  Coples or Hale for the DE "NEED."  Then MLB will probably be filled with one of the 40 amazing LB's on the slate for next year.  Good stuff RP.

Scott is more than likely going to line up as a safety at OSU.

I don't think that is true.  A lot of people and "insiders" think he may be better suited for safety in the long run, but the staff doesn't necessarily see it that way.  Who would've had Ted Ginn as a WR going into his freshman year?

Clifford is a cornerback.  He'll probably be starting at FC in 2008 if Jenkins leaves.

If you guys think this is a stupid post then why respond to it? That only keeps it bumped to the top.

And if you think it's inaccurate then post how you would change it. It's easy to say something is wrong, but it takes a little work to say why it's wrong.

Re: 2010 Depth Chart

Anyone who thinks this post is stupid is completely missing the point..

This is not meant as a predictor of who will play in 2010, but instead as a guide to what the coaching staff is looking at when thinking about what needs to fill in our next couple of recruiting classes.

For anyone interested in recruiting (this IS a recruiting board), Robot has put together a very nice (if not conclusive) look at our needs for 2010 based on who we think will be there right now.

This allows us to then see who the top players are in the 2008/09 classes and predict who the coaches might be going after.. it's not meant to be an exact science..

Thanks for putting this up Robot.. you've done a nice job.

Nice.  One (well, maybe two ) questions.  Wasn't the idea with taking Buchanan with a full scholly in such a tight class as a K/P to save a future scholly? So the 09 need for a P might not need to be there.  Also, everyone and their mother and their brother and their dog's vet are saying Hale = DE but you still have him at MLB.  Any reason?

I do these kinds of charts when I get bored at work and the boards are slow but I usually just close notepad or whatever I'm messing with it in before saving when actual work comes in.

Re: 2010 Depth Chart

Buchanan could end up being both the P and K. If that's going to be the case, then the need for a P in 09 wouldn't be there. Also, I have Hale at LB because that's the position he is being recruited to play. Both he and Williams are high school LBs who could end up playing D end. If Hale stays below 245, he'll play SLB or MLB, if he gets up to 250-260, he'll play the role Gholston plays now.

Buchanan is good enough to play both Punter and Kicker at OSU and he will, IMO. He's got it all to be an All American.
