wow. I would be interested in hearing some perspective from fans of these B1G schools. Did they arrive late on the kid?

Illinois signed this kid! Aaron Bailey and didn't offer the above mentioned kid.
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 225 40: 4.5 Position:QB, WR Year:Class of 2013 High School:Bolingbrook HS (Bolingbrook, IL)
2013 Scout.com HS Football Rankings (full list): Pos: QBPos Rank: #11Pos Rating:
Scout.com Player Evaluation:l STRENGTHS Arm Strength Running Ability / Mobility Speed AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT Field Vision Fantastic athlete with great size and open field ability. Has a very strong arm and can make all the throws and get the ball downfield. He still has to develop as far as making reads and polishing his overall game, but he was much improved in those areas between his junior and sophomore season. He's a big time threat with the ball in his hands though and an ideal spread quarterback. - Allen Trieu
Biography:
Bailey is one of the top prospects in the Midwest. He's been starting on the varsity at Bolingbrook since his freshman year. He was named all-conference as a freshman. Bailey was an all-conference and all-area selection as a sophomore and an all-state selection in 2011. Also a terrific baseball player.

per scout,
the kid in the original post also turned down Arizona, BC, Clemson and NCST.
so who knows, kid just seems to love the staff there

Be a third-stringer at a BCS school; start as a sophomore at a MAC school. It always surprises me that more kids don't decide to sign with the non-BCS school.

Probably because he has a better chance of making an NFL team than playing QB for the bottom 5 teams in the Big 10.

Toledo has been getting a couple kids a year away from BCS schools. I think they got a very good WR and DB from PA last year that Pitt and PSU offered.

Toledo has actually had a decent number of NFL players. Lance Moore, Chester Taylor, Bruce Gradkowski and Nick Kaczur are probably the best. I think Toledo's program is as good as the bottom 5 of the Big Ten.

The new coach at Toledo is young and seems to be a really good recruiter. He had a really good class last year for the amount of time he had after beckman left for Illinois.

They almost had Brad Smith too..He was committed to Pinkel at Toledo and followed him to Mizzou instead.

Toledo had an excellent recruiting year. They have a number of kids coming in who had BCS offers, including a WR with offers from UC, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma, and WVU - http://toledo.scout.com/a.z?s=361&p=8&c=1& amp;nid=5996382. Very impressive.

oddly, the other QB in their class is rated higher than this kid from HH, but had no BCS offers.
